Find Gor'tesh, somewhere to the west of Dreadmaul Rock. Kill Gor'tesh and then take Gor'tesh's Lopped Off Head back to Oralius in Burning Steppes.

Description

They're reeling I tell you! Our next strike must be decisive.

The brute lord, Gor'tesh, must be slain. More importantly, his head must be returned to me so that I may prepare the third phase of our attack on the Firegut ogres.

Be warned, soldier, Gor'tesh rules not from Dreadmaul Rock but from a Blackrock orc structure to the west of Dreadmaul Rock.

Your orders, then, are simple. Find Gor'tesh and chop off his fat head. Return to me when the job is done.

SHUT UP, WINKY!

Just look at it, soldier. Disgusting! When the remaining Firegut ogres see this fat mug stuck on a pike sitting at the top of their mountain, mass hysteria will ensue!

I found Gor'tesh at 40, 55(ish) with a level 57 add, he hits really hard for a normal mob, so classes that can't kite should have a health potion ready.

The OP was on track - 39,54 is more exact but both coordinates will put you in view of Gor'tesh. Don't mind control his add and kill him - you can't loot the head. I learned this the hard way - and had never tried to kill anything before with MC.

I pummelled Gor'tesh with shadow dmg and feared his other add after pulling them way away from the hut. Also, kill the soldier pat (level ~57) and then start your Gor'tesh killing frenzy.

Easily Solo'd with 51 Frost Mage. Gor'tesh was 54, and only one guard lvl 55 was linked to him. I just sheep'd the guard, killed Gor'tesh and finished the guard after.
You souldn't have problem to do it if you're wise enough ;)

made it as 52 druid by killed one of his guard, that wasnt linked to Gor'tesh, then kill the guard while gor'tesh was entrangled and then i ran away. Voila! only gor'tesh left! but he hits hard, entrangle him and use starfire until entrangles fades and then cat/bear him to death :)

pretty easy for a 53 rogue just sap the other person and shot gor'test, kill him quick before the other people awakes if he does just blind him that should get u some time have potions ready

this was quite easy. i found him just south of the main road from Blackrock Mountain not too far from the actual mountain. at about 39, 54 or so.

as a 52 affliction warlock with voidwalker out, he was quite easy. he's a 54 non-elite ogre with 1 mob. cant miss him. i sent voidwalker onto his mob while he attacked me. before he got to me i feared then unstable affliction + siphon life + corruption + immolate + agony. by that time he was off fear and i refered. sent 1 shadowbolt, and he died. void still at half health, then i dealt with mob and beat it without him laying a finger on me.

Had a hard time with him and his add (~350dmg fireballs). Died twice trying to kill add first; much easier to kill Gor'tesh first.

If you don't have any crowd control at all (shamans, I'm looking at you) this is a lot harder than the other posts are making it out to be. You'll be stunned often enough that it'll be incredibly difficult to keep grounding totems down as well as keep yourself healed. Tried it as a 53 Draenei shaman about 10 times, lowest I got Gor'tesh was about 41% health. Bring help or gain some levels for better odds.

Killed by a 51 affli lock. Quite hard, died, his add was 57 so i couldnt get any spells at him. But i just doted the big guy up and ran, unluckily a fat dragon got me while running, so the 57 add and dragon killed me, but the big guy died by my dots so i could just SS and loot

Made it as a 53 demon lock. First of all i cast Curse of Wakness, both Gor'Tesh and he's follower went aggro on me (off course), i ran away and sent my felguard to hit them with the Cleave skill. Felguard gets aggro from both and fast killed gor'tesh with theese spells, immolate, curse of agony, soulfire and some bolts. than i ran off to get anti aggro on the follower.. ran back and got the head.

solod quite easily as a level 51 afflic lock
sent in VW to the quest mob, dotted him up and kept the 57 mob feared, had to use pot death coil and healthstone, so be prepared

Soloed as lvl 53 feral druid, one add near him was lvl 56. All I did was casting roots on add for start, then moonfire spam + kiting until Gor'tesh was dead. I had to use one mana potion :)

easily soloed as a 54 prot pally. took out the add tht wasnt linked to him. then pulled both gor'tesh and other add gor'tesh hits very high about a 335 crit and 130's non crit on plate he attacks fast and has a stun ouch. after i killed gor'tesh bubbled and healed up then pummled the lvl 56 add. =)

This quest is pretty difficult i recomend u be atleast lvl 51 to do it without nearly killing yourself. took me a while to figure ot how to kill him but i finally did it on my 49 hunter ^.^

Kill the first guard outside next to him but be careful of pulling him and the otehr guard inside. after u do that take out the ogre guy while the other guard is upstairs. He hits really hard for a 54 just be mindful of your distance! Good luck hope this helps! =)

soloed as 51 frost mage.

1) Send in elemental, have him tank
2) Nuke the ogre
3) Run away from the add as the elemental will be close to dying
4) Loot

he hits about 200 even with plate.
if you get kucky you can even aggro gor'tesh without pulling his gaurds. but you got to wait till the sorcerer walks into the building next to him then walk right into the ogre's aggro range, without stepping into the slayer's boundries

Completed as a level 50 night elf feral druid. Pretty tough and luck based.

First of all make sure the pat mob isn't nearby (it's a slayer, I believe, which will add a third high leveled add to the mix).

Just hop in, hit Pounce, Rake, Mangle spam, and Rip as soon as you can while pulling him away from his spawn. When you get lowish (it'll be fast), hit Survival Instincts, go into caster form with barkskin and heal to full and cast Regrowth. Go in Bear Form, enrage and hit Frenzied Regeneration. From this point on, kill him in bear form and Shadowmeld to lose the adds. If you pulled him away from the spawn, they shouldn't aggro when you turn off Shadowmeld.

With a few lucky crits and some stamina (I was in tanking gear), it's possible. Keep in mind I also didn't have any of the upgraded level 50 abilities, so it should be easier if you do.

He's not been eating much though, his body is as thin as a stick...oooh wait...
