Description

I have prepared a report for the King. I believe you should be the one to deliver it to him, along with an account of your findings. Do not worry, there is no doubt that he will commend you for doing your duty to the people of Stormwind.

Your audience is scheduled soon, so you'd best hurry, it's a bit of a ways to Stormwind Keep.

You are to be commended for the service you have done for Stormwind, <name>. If VanCleef had been successful in his machinations, he would no doubt have done considerable harm to the kingdom - something we must obviously avoid.

Take this, <class>, as a token of the King's appreciation. I am only sorry he cannot present it to you himself, but he is away on a diplomatic mission and shall not return for some time.

The ring well outways all the running around you have to do for this story arc, well worth it, plus all the xp from the Deadmines and the Stockades. But if your doing the stockades, make sure you have all the quest that go with it:
Bazill Thredd (Stormwind)
Crime and Punishment (Duskwood)
Quell the Uprising (Stormwind)
The Color of Blood (Stormwind)
The fury Runs Deep (Wetlands)
The Stockade Riots (At the Stockades itself)

This chain is definitely one of the best quest chains in the entire game. The ring is good too.

I ran through this line (still need the duskwood and redridge parts), but want to put a little clarity here.

The quest tells you to speak to ""King Varian Wrynn"". A search here for that King does not find you anything.

When you get to the court, you are questioned marked by ""Lady Katrana Prestor"", which is the NPC you need to speak to for this quest. She tells you that the King is away on ""...a diplomatic mission..."".

She gives you the ring, 3750 XP, and 500 (non human) Rep points with Stormwind.

Very nice twink ring.

Keep in mind that if you're going to use it for your twink, you should start ""The unsent letter"" quest from Van Cleef immediately at lvl 16. The whole quest chain gives you 12515XP, mobs excluded.

For your other ring you should choose the Warsong Gulch PvP reward ring.

For twinks who have just learned of this, if your 19 you can still do the quest line and not pass 20, You just need a high level to take you through all the parts. (which will make it go faster AND eat up a lot of the Mob exp you'll get.).

Started this questline again after I learned of the ring a few days ago, and at 19 I had to go back through DM to get the letter, but due to having a high level I just waited at the entrance for him to clear the instance, except for VC, then ran up and looted VC after he killed him, overall (because of the respawning pats) I got about 900 - 1000 exp, so thats not too bad.

And you do the same thing for Stocks, which is easier because you dont have to worry about respawns as much. So unless your already close to leveling to 20, then I suggest you start the questline and get this ring.

If you start this quest chain flat out at 16 (with hardly any/no xp) you will just hit 17 when you finish it.

If you have RAF active this quest chain is a must. I leveled to 20 then did it all. It got me to about 24 alone.

The text reads

That thing in the old days with ""A Diplomatic Mission"" is a clear refference to the 'The Missing Diplomat' chain, which starts at the altar boy and is attainable at lvl 28. Before he moved to Stormwind, the king could be found prisoned in Dustwallow Marsh, which there was also a Q for. Also, in the old days, the ring was a crappy +2 stam/+7 spirit... suckish

The entire chain awards 13,745 exp with out any bonuses, 15,119 with 10% exp bonus and16,494 with 20% exp bonus.
