The Attack!

Remain in the garden until Lord Gregor Lescovar and Marzon the Silent Blade have had their conversation. Afterwards, kill them both before returning to Elling Trias in Stormwind.
  •
Overhear Lescovar and Marzon's Conversation
  •
Overhear Lescovar and Marzon's Conversation
Lescovar's Head

Description

After I put on Spybot's disguise, he'll head in to talk to Lescovar. The guards should let him pass no problem.

While you were getting materials for me, I took care of informing Marzon that it was time for him and Lescovar to meet again. I even dropped some false information.

Lescovar will dismiss his guards and wait for Marzon out here in the garden. After you catch wind of talk about the Defias, make your move. You need to kill them both before the guards return! When you're done, speak to Trias.

Progress

Yes, <name>? Are things going well with Tyrion? He apprised me of the situation and I've helped him trick Marzon into going to the castle.

Marzon has been a thorn in the side of many people in Stormwind; many of which are close friends of mine. No one messes with my friends... not if they know what's healthy for them.

It's just a shame I'm indirectly doing a favor for Shaw and SI:7 in the meantime. Oh well, not every plan is perfect.

Completion

So it is done? Good. Thank you greatly for your discretion, <name>. You've proven worthy on more than one count. I'll be sure to keep my eyes on you and your progress within the Alliance.

Be sure to keep your nose clean.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 190 experience (11 40 at max. level)
  • 150 Reputation with Stormwind

This is a really fun quest, and is part of a great series (starting from a drop off VC in Deadmines, leading to Stockades, then finally paperboy quests in SW) which leads to the great reward - seal of wrynn, an amazing ring which will last you until level 50.

The quest invovles assasinating the boss of the traitors against Stormwind. As a rogue, mage, warlock, hunter , this quest is easier because you can crowd control one (sap, sheep, pet, fear, etc). However, as a warrior you may find difficulties.

A useful tip is to wave at the guards when they walk away. Because they are friendly, they wave back to you (they are the only guards who do) and stop walking. Keep waving until the speech is over and recorded. Then charge in, and do a decent amount of damage, Just before you die, pop a hp pot and run to the guards you were waving to. Because they waved back, they will not have gone far and will help you kill the 2 traitors.

Make sure you get a decent amount of damage first though, or else you won't get the kill. You need to take at least 1/4 chunk of their hp bar before you can get a kill.

keep /waving for all you're worth! Do this and you can complete the quest at around level 30. The key is taking the kill.

You don't even really need to get them down by 1/4. I waved like you should, tagged them both and the guard was already attacking my first target. I ran over to make sure i got some good damage on him. He went down, guard worked on the other. I must have only done less than 20% damage on each. You only need to /wave to one guard. I did this solo with my lv 28 tankadin and never got below 60% health. Don't think I even healed. Good rewards for this series. Think i got about 3500 exp.

I could only do this (as a mage 27) by enlisting someone to help me kill both of these guys. With two people, it is very easy - piece of cake. The other guy was a lvl 32 Paladin and had no idea what was going on since the quest is not sharable.

Druids! This one is easy for us. Just sit behind lescovar in Cat form. When the convo is complete, shred him. Fight until half health, shift out, heal with healing touch and regrowth. Then fight again. I only had to heal once.

This was at level 28

Crazy easy for hunters. Before the conversation ends, place a frost trap where the rogue is standing. When they start to attack he'll be frozen. Have your pet tank Lescovar and kill him like you would any other mob. If he dies early, use that time to bandage/heal your pet if necessary and then kill the rogue.

It would probably be just as easy having your pet tank both at the same time but this just seems a lot more clever. XD

just as a tip, this quest can be difficult if you focus on killing the rogue first because lescovar will turn back green and you won't be able to attack him. I had problems with this as a rogue trying to sap lescovar and kill the rogue.

As a level 25 mage I made a macro of /wave and mashed it at one of the guards then I used Frost Nova and froze them. Unfortunatly Lescovar didn't freeze so I sheeped the rogue. The guard then came and helped and i managed to get damage him so I got credit. Took a couple tries cuz they resist almost all my spells.

Solo'd as L28 Rogue:

1. Stealth &amp; sap rogue when convo ends
2. Backstab Lescovar, fight till death
3. Pop health pot
4. Gouge rogue, backstab, etc (thistle tea would come in handy)
5. Towards the end, the guards returned and helped me finish him off

(I believe this only works if Lescovar dies first. At my first attempt, Lescovar just walked away as I was finishing off the rogue)

I was a level 18 draenei shaman, and I just got a level 40 in my guild to kill them. Heres a walkthrough:

You turn in the previous quest and you accept this one. You will see some human woman (the spybot in disguise) walk towards the hallway where the two guards are. The guards part and let her in the library. (I snuck in the library, because I thought the quest log was wrong or something, because it takes a long time for her and the dude walk out.
The dude stands in the middle of the garden, and the girl walks away to outside of the garden to get the other level 31 you will kill. The other dude will eventually come (stealthed) and unstealth to talk to the other guy.
At that point my high level helper and i prepared for combat. As soon as the dudes stopped talking, we attacked the dudes and I turned in the quest. END.
Also if you fail the quest the first time, you just wait for the spybot to respawn and start the quest again. I like this quest because the bot turns into a woman, and before you have to gather 2 apples, HMM what could those stand for??? Lol, Good luck.

By Kanmuri on 09/06/2008 (Patch 2.4.3)
When you accept the quest:
  • Tyrion's Spybot says: By your command!
  • Tyrion says: Wait here, &lt;name&gt;. Spybot will make Lescovar come out as soon as possible. Be ready! Attack only after you've overheard their conversation.
Tyrion's Spybot is disguised as Priestess Tyriona and walks toward the two Stormwind Royal Guards.
  • Priestess Tyriona says: Good day to you both. I would speak to Lord Lescovar.
  • Stormwind Royal Guard says: Of course. He awaits you in the library.
  • Priestess Tyriona says: Thank you. The Light be with you both.
The two Stormwind Royal Guards kneel as Priestess Tyriona proceeds into the library toward Lord Gregor Lescovar.
  • Priestess Tyriona says: Milord, your guest has arrived. He awaits your presence.
  • Lord Gregor Lescovar says: Ah, thank you kindly. I will leave you to the library while I tend to this small matter.
  • Priestess Tyriona says: I shall use this time wisely, milord. Thank you.
Lord Gregor Lescovar walks out of the library into the courtyard.
  • Lord Gregor Lescovar says: It's time for my meditation, leave me.
  • Stormwind Royal Guard says: Yes, sir!
  • Lord Gregor Lescovar waits for the guards to be out of sight.
Marzon appears.
  • Lord Gregor Lescovar says: There you are. What news from Westfall?
  • Marzon the Silent Blade says: VanCleef sends word that the plans are underway. But he's heard rumors about someone snooping about.
  • Lord Gregor Lescovar says: Hmm, it could be that meddler Shaw. I will see what I can discover. Be off with you. I'll contact you again soon.
  • Marzon the Silent Blade says: Very well. I will return then.
  • Tyrion says: That's it! That's what you were waiting for! KILL THEM!
When you get aggro:
  • Lord Gregor Lescovar says: What? How dare you!
  • Marzon the Silent Blade says: The Defias shall succeed! No meek adventurer will stop us!

Best talent build for this is frost cause u can use Icy veins and because u can easily kite them around the trees with the help of ""Permafrost"" Talent. I used all bandage + evocation to do it.

Currently bugged; per a GM response right now the only way to ensure completion is to get someone that can tag enough damage before guards spawn and one-shot the NPCs. Yes, they spawn without a /wave emote to drag one of the other guards back.

You do not have to hide behind the tree with Tyrion. I walked up and stood between the two NPCs. As soon sa Tyrion said ""KILL THEM"" I hit an AOE to tag both.

The first time I did the quest, I hit Marzon first and Lord Lescovar turned back to green before I could get him.

I have completed this quest now on my 30 mage and 35 paladin. Easy on both.

The problem I ran into is that with Lord Gregor Lescovar you must do a direct damage attack to him to get him to start taking damage. In both cases, I dropped an AOE spell immediately to try and start combat with Lescovar before he turned green. In both cases, he stayed yellow but was not taking ANY damage from the AOE spell. Once I hit him directly, he started taking damage from the AOE normally.

So, hit him first and immediately to make sure he doesn't revert back to green, then start your AOE on the two of them.

Can anyone confirm that the quest is respawning in this patch?

I abandoned it because I thought it was taking too long (just too impatient, hehe :P) and now i've been back loads throughout the day and it still isn't available from him.

Although if RyVII's comment is still true, it's probably part of it being a bit buggy.

EDIT: Sent a bug report to Customer Support, and they say they're aware of the problem and are working on it.

I had no trouble killing the two mobs for this quest (I'm level 36) but I did have trouble with a guard that seemed to spawn out of nowhere in the middle of the courtyard. It took me three tries to complete. The first time, I killed the rogue, went for the other guy, and the guard killed him. The second time, the guard killed both. Then, after killing them, the guard despawned, and I was able to start it a third time and complete it successfully. I'm not really sure where the guard even came from. He definitely wasn't there when I started the quest the first time, nor did I have a problem with this on the alt I'd done it on a few hours before. It seems to be a transient problem, and the only solution is to hope you get lucky and not have a guard spawn, and if you do, drop the quest and wait for the questgiver to offer it again (which he does when the bot gets back to him).

Slight post-4.0 bug with this quest: If you accept it right after turning in the apples, Tyrion (the gnome) can get stuck in a loop shuffling his hands, and the event won't start. If that happens, you have to drop the quest, log out, and back in, and then reaccept the quest to get it to work.

Solo'ed this as a lvl 31 disc priest in quest greens and dungeon blues. Had to throw pain on both of them to keep the one from running away while killing the other. Once Lescovar thanks the rogue, bubble up, throw pain on both of them, and then fire away everything offensive you've got - devouring plague, holy fire, mind blast, smite. Damage in disc is slow (not low, just long cast times), but they will die if you use the whole arsenal. Also remember that Penance can also be used offensively if you get stuck with holy fire on cooldown.

Not sure if it's doable without the bubble in disc... but lived to tell with 70% hp left. Didn't bother with the guards, not sure you even can anymore.
