Search the murloc village for Rolf, or signs of his death.

Description

Upon further searching the area, you find webbed footprints leading east along the shore of Stone Cairn Lake. In the distance to the east, you can just barely see a Murloc village.

Perhaps Rolf's fate ended there...

Completion

You find around the neck of the corpse a metal medallion inscribed with the words "Footman Rolf Hartford."

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 420 experience (2 52 at max. level)
  • 75 Reputation with Stormwind

Upon picking up the corpse, you'll get the quest description above. If you look northeast past the river and rocks, you can see some murlocs. If you head in that direction you will come to a lot of Murloc Huts. The body is in that direction right in the middle of the intersection between two huts. I recommend you bring a friend for this one, it's tough at level 8 or 9.

Careful with the pulls, as a paladin, I would bubble and loot the corpse, then its every man for himself, 3 murlocs guarding the flesh, they also have a castable pot spell. Be warned.

Impossible to do as a lvl 8 warrior. You will have to pull 2 of them at once to get to the corpse.

Worst quest in the game IMO. In my 2 years of playing WoW, I have NEVER done this quest on my first try.

This is one of those quests that will make you bang your head on something and may make you hate WoW. The murlocs have unusually high armor and parry chance, are tough to pull one at a time, and have lots of random pats running everywhere. Approach with extreme caution, or get a group, or wait until at least level 10 before attempting.

This quest introduces the basic concept of WoW: Murlocs suck ass, like a bad porno. Except bad pornos doen claw you to death in mobs of 5.

The only reason why I hated the quest is because I was in a group and we were all dying trying to get to a chest and until someone got it no one cared about...the hunk of meat(Rolf)

This.. Is the hardest quest ive EVER had on world of warcraft.I like the human starting zone that's where i level all my characters. I dread this quest.One wrong pull and your dead.Doing all the quests b4 this with BOA gear and still not enough to do this easy.I advise to either drop it or do it with friend, This quest doesn't belong in a starting zone.

I can confirm that this is NOT do-able for Horde. This is an Alliance only quest as it is part of a chain.

Teehee - I remember this quest from when I first played WoW - human Mage; I HATED it. Instilled in me a fear of Murlocs that still stands today.

Just did it on my new (level 8) Paladin - went around the 'back way', killing pats as I saw them. Got to his corpse, and tried pulling a pat, and he pulled three others and I died (painfully xD) Tried again a few times, died some more. Finally decided on a 'Leeroy Jenkins' suicide approach - screw the Murlocs, run in, click the item, hit 'complete quest', accept the next one, and RUN.

Cause if you actually try and take on these guys, there's a high chance you'll get squished - at least at level 8 :)

Clousy is right! i tried EVERYTHING to kill those murlocs.. until i see the comment of clousy then i decided to do the same and i just screamed LEEEROY JENKINS! and charge to the corpse... or pile of meat clicked completed and then dead.. but at least i made it

THIS IS JUST IN

The chunk of meat (rolf) is on the EDGE of the murloc village!
circle around it or ask a guildmate to get on their main and raze the village.

either way, easier.
