Provided Item:
Package of Empty Ooze Containers

Description

But the thing I've studied most is ooze. I know it sounds odd, but they're all over!

I helped a lady in Menethil find her bag not too long ago--it was eaten by oozes. I've seen members of the Royal Apothecary Society from Undercity collecting samples of the stuff. I want to know why! Where does it come from?

I've heard of more in Felwood. What I need are samples of the oozes there so I can further my research. I'll give you containers, you use them to collect a sample from the deceased creatures.

Reward

Also, you get: 75

Progress

Some of the experiments I've done are fascinating. I think with a little more work, I'll be able to figure out the nature of these creatures and how they play into how life developed on Azeroth... if they even have anything to do with it to begin with.

One of my biggest theories that isn't well liked is the idea that oozes and slimes are tied to the creation of this planet... almost like they're a secretion of it.

But I can't prove or disprove it until I get more samples.

Completion

Amazing results, <name>! You got close enough to take a sample of the corrupted things, and managed to look no worse for wear! Thank you. Oh, these samples will be perfect. I can't wait to start testing on them.

If I'm right, I could be one of the Explorers' Leagues greatest scientists!

That'll prove to all the dwarves that it wasn't a mistake to allow us gnomes into Ironforge after the Gnomeregan incident.

Gains

You will need to travel to Felwood for this quest.

You will receive a box with the jars in them. If you are having inventory troubles (full inventory, etc) leave them in the box until you are ready to do the quest. After you open the box, you will receive 2 sets of 6 jars. One set for the Tainted Ooze, one set for the Cursed Ooze.

The Tainted Ooze can be found at the two ponds in Jaedenar. The coordinates are 40, 59 and 40, 55 for those two ponds.

The Cursed Ooze can be found just south of there at two other ponds. The coordinates for those two ponds are 40, 67 and 40, 71.

After you kill the Oozes, be sure to loot them. Then, select their dead ""body"" and use the appropriate container (Cursed or Tainted, depending on what you just killed) to fill the jar with ooze.

When you are finished, you will need to fly back to Ironforge to turn in the quest to Laris Geardawdle in the Hall of Explorers.

A funny note for anyone who happened to quest in Menethil...

""I helped a lady in Menethil find her bag not too long ago--it was eaten by oozes."" the quest giver says this refering to https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=470 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=470

I found this to be slightly humorous...

1. Open the box you get from the questgiver.
2. Kill Cursed Ooze(40,66) or Tainted Ooze (40,46). (Felwood)
3. Use the empty vials on the corpse of the Ooze.

Gives 9150 Exp in 2.3

Just killed a single Muculent Ooze in Un'goro, and filled 10 jars (all 6 Tainted, 4 Cursed) from the corpse. Couldn't fill up the last two Tainted, but that was because I was attacked by a Diametredon and the ooze despawned whilst I was killing it.

Just did this quest, I think, can't turn it in and don't know why else the jars would have been in the bank. Had a similar experience with tainted ooze, filled a 'cursed ooze' jar while I was fighting it, then did another etc. It does seem to currently work though I only filled my cursed jars with tainted and then finished filling tainted jars with tainted.

Just to confirm. I filled all the jars from cursed oozes and it was fine when I handed it in. This counts for Loremaster too.

Just did the q, and you can use the wrong vials on wrong oozes, while they are still ""alive"".
I think this vial thing is all about oozes and not about which ones...

Interesting fact. This can be done right in Dun Morogh. The ooze can be collected from the Irradiated Invaders on the way to gnomeregan instance.

This quest is bugged alot I was in tanaris and did the quest with the ""uldum"" discs and killed a mob there (a big stonethingy) and I could all fill my vials from that mob without either the corpse despwaning neither was it the right mob! XD

There's no need to go all the way to Felwood. Apparently this quest is bugged, so every mob can be used to fill the jars, of both types. I killed a rabbit in front of Stormwind and filled all twelve.

Same for https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=4513 next-in-chain quest.

No longer bugged as of Patch 4.0.1. Also I'd like to point out that if you cancel the quest the quest jars don't go away. Caused some confusion for me.

Didn't find any bugs here and just killin something outside of Ironforge didn't do it either. So, just did the roadtrip n got a little preview of Kalimdor or could've changed my chars leveling to there. Lotsa work passed on while on the way to the slimes once I got to Felwood tho. 49 Dwarf Rogue with a ton of patience and took the trip for the hell of it n hearthed back to I-forge. Took just about 45 minutes includin the rent-a-grif rides n boat from Menethil Harbor and a little run down the road to the slimes south from north Felwood. Mined about 20 Mithril ore on the way tho in Felwood, a late 40s level place, so no prob there either. Peace!
