Wild Guardians

Trull Failbane in Felwood wants you to kill 15 Raging Owlbeasts and 15 Ragged Owlbeasts.
  •
Raging Owlbeast slain (15)
  •
Ragged Owlbeast slain (15)

Description

Winterspring lies just beyond Timbermaw, northeast of Felwood. Have you been there?

I have heard that the area is laden with creatures called wildkin. These beasts have been known to guard secrets; secrets of the Night elves.

We must figure out what may be hidden in Winterspring.

I have heard the ragged owlbeasts can be found just south of the road, and that there are others called raging owlbeasts that may be found in the center of Winterspring. Clear them out, and gain access to the land.

Reward

Also, you get: 85

Progress

Report back to me after you have completed the task I gave you.

Completion

This is excellent news, <name>. With these beasts out of the way, we can begin to adventure further into Winterspring. Are you ready for more?

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 580 experience (34 80 at max. level)
  • 250 Reputation with Orgrimmar

Ragged Owlbeasts can be found near the path between Everlook and Timbermaw Hold.

Raging Owbeasts can be found northwest of Everlook near Moon Horror Den.

This quest can be done with Are We There Yeti? because theirs Yetis right near the Den.

Raging Owlbeasts are wandering around and inside the ""Moon Horror Den"" at 61,30

This quest is hard because they are scattered all over the place rather than in one fixed location.

I found most of the Raging Owlbeasts at 58,34 and the Ragged Oulbeasts further west at 37,35.

I think a piece of wise advice for this quest is not to focus on doing this quest, but whilst doing other quests, if you see a owlbeast along the way, kill it and soon enough you'll find that you'll have it completed.

if you're doing this quest, then you can run from the cave between Felwood and Winterspring and run forward to Everlook in Winterspring. on the way there you'll find loads of Ragging Owlbeasts, and if you go to 60.29 (north west for Everlook if you don't got coords) you can find a whole cave filled with Raging Owlbeast. Easy quest, but make sure to do it with ""Are we there, Yeti?"" because the Yetis walk around there too.

one of the worst quest ever:
The ragged owlbeast are rare.
The quest npc is on an other region.
The owlbeasts aren't skinnable and don't drop runecloths.
The ragged owlbeast put you a 30 minutes disease which reduces all the attributes by 22.
The xp reward is very low compared to the time lost.

A handy bit of advice to you druids, just go cat form and slap on humanoid tracking...it will definitely help speed up the process of finding em.

Download MobMap addon which allows you to search for certain mobs and then display an ""overlay"" on your map of where they can be found.

Travel to the area and make a macro ""/tar ragged owlbeast"" or ""/tar raging owlbeast"". You might even want to do ""/tar ra"" which if I recall correctly will target either a raging OR ragged owlbeast as long as they are in range. Spam this macro while traveling around the area and hopefully this will speed up the process of tracking these down.

If you are in the vicinity of Moon Horror Den (60,29) and have trouble locating the Raging Owlbeasts, kill the Ice Thistle Yeti. They share spawn locations.

This goes for the ones on the hill just NW of the cave, as well as the larger mountain above the cave to the south. (On the map, it is the visible mountain SE of the cave.)

In the region of (58.5, 34.2) , two large hills SW of the cave with a plateau between them (just NW of Everlook), there are also Raging Owlbeast....these may be Ice Thistle Yeti spawns too. Kill the yeti, and soon you'll have tons of Raging Owlbeasts. :)

FYI, this may also apply to the Ragged Owlbeasts in the west and the Rogue Ice Thistles. It happened on one for me, but I did not confirm it.

Rogue Ice Thistle and Ragged Owlbeasts share spawn locations.
Killing both should spawn more ragged owlbeasts.

Whether it's the spawn rate or some other factor I found Ragged Owlbeasts to be plentiful and Raging Owlbeasts to be annoyingly rare. it took a full 90 minutes of searching to get my 15th Raging Owlbeast.

This is another blizzard ""lets annoy the f&amp;""/&amp;( out of them"" quests. There are 1 million Yetis, Chimeras, Bears, ..and once in a while u spot an Owl. This quest will give you an ulcer.

ps. The /target ra is a lifesaver if you do take this quest.

If you like wasting lots of time you're gonna love this quest. Even with a macro you can plan on 45 mins to one hour to complete it. And when you're working towards a goal of 3000 quests that's unacceptable.

Most boring 3 chain quests ever. You have to fly from Felwood to Winterspring back and forth for 6 times. I would like to look to quest designer's eyes and ask why these quest was not emplemented in Winterspring. I have even got enough time to register at wowhead and type my first post here during all the flyghts.
