He's standing at a ring of tents which have level 28 and 29 non-elites. You can sneak up the hill behind him from the road (near a tree guarded by a level 21 slime) and avoid having to clear to him through the camp. There are a couple mobs near him you can pull solo. Depending on your pull timing and clearing you can get Nek'rosh with two, one, or none of the other mobs at the camp.

If you can't use either of the rewards (2h sword or 1h axe) the sword sells for more.

Strangely enough, he was immune to Fire for me(Searing Totem wouldn't fire and Flame Shock came up as Immune).

yep. fire immune. I wish I had been paying attention to that. I probably would have got him had I chosen the right element.

Probably because of being a Dragon Maw, empahsis on dragon, he's immune to fire, just a guess.

Soloable by a level 30 feral druid. Was able to single pull after clearing most of the mobs there. Then just bear form tank him, entangling roots when low hp, back up and heal. Charge back in after healed up and repeat. Was a good 4 minute fight.

I completed this quest as a 29 enhancement shaman. I basically cleared the surrounding area of all mobs. The mobs that are linked to Nek'rosh, I killed then ran away so that I would exit combat. Once the area is clear, I dropped a mana spring totem and a stoneskin totem and frostshock kited him.

I did use one mana potion. When he gets to around 15% of his life, he will try to flee. That's when I went in to melee.

Solo'd as L27 Rogue:

1. Stealthed to the coordinates above.
2. Sapped solitary guard
3. Pulled Nekrosh to clear area near the sapped guard
4. Focused on Nekrosh only, killed him.
5. Vanished
6. Once the mob returned to their places, sapped guard once more & looted body.

i solo'd him with a level 23 elemental shaman.......it took me about 5 tries though. Came from behind, but everytime i tried to pull i'd end up another caster on me too, which basically meant everytime he started running i'd get hit by an attack from the caster and die.

i found the best way to deal with it was to pull him, and then drop down behind the mountains you're standing on to buy some extra time to pull off a few spells. This also means the caster has to move to be able to reach you again, giving enough time to kill nek'rosh before the caster can do any real damage.

Even i'm l30 shaman, i look carefully where he walks, pull him from back when he is fartest away from another mobs, easy cake. Another mobs don't react =)

Then i test if i can pull 2 mobs grouped (3 fighters and 2 casters or so). When i hit one, all mobs reacts and starts attack at me.
You're warned. Better go back and pull him only if you're alone.

I recommend scaling the rocks and hitting the group from the back. If you pull from directly behind Nek'rosh you'll get two melee instead of two melee and two or more casters. He's no big deal. Easy to kill. It's the adds that make it difficult.

From that position you can retreat easily without having to wade through respawns in the camp to get out. Unless of course you have an orc net fetish.

Done as a 25 fury warrior (dw). Came up the hill behind him and had to body pull. I pulled a caster and another melee mob. Popped Bloodrage, Demo shout and Retaliation then focus fired Nek'rosh. Looted and then hauled out. By the time you get down the hill, the mobs will reset. Had to pop a pot on my way down to stay alive.

I died a couple times before finally getting it.

For those of you who cant read coordinates like me .....or cant find the ooze outside and spent a lot of time clearing out all the camps to no avail....if you are facing the catipults looking at the mountains behind them .... follow the mountains to the left until you see a small gap between the hills . go in ..a few guards that can be taken individually and then take out nekrosh with ease..and escape over the back of the mountain past the ooze you couldnt find in the first place

by the way i was a 26 rogue when i did this and it was very easy. just go into tstealth and continue on go behind him (Pickpocket him to if you can) and Ambush him then a 25 will come which is right in front of him and once you kill him get his head and then (remember this) use Sprint to get out of their safely

Soloed as a level 26 Human Warrior. Picked off the casters, one by one, then pulled Nek'rosh and two meele mobs. Used sword and shield and popped a Greater Healing Potion. Dropped off the mountain instead of fighting through the mobs, again.

The coords for the 'backdoor tree' are 54,56 right near the lvl 21 slime as stated before. Solo'd as a lvl 25 demonology spec warlock - took two attempts... pretty easy.

It says above that this quest is not longer available in game, yet I was just given the quest at Whelgar's Retreat. Fair warning, the NPC never spawns because there is another NPC in his place you need to kill for another quest... just abandon the quest.

This quest still exists, but there is no NPC, so you cannot complete it.
Blizzard should erase all of the quests that ""no longer exist"",
