The Weaver

Kill the Dalaran archmage, then retrieve his staff for Shadow Priest Allister at the Sepulcher.
Ataeric's Staff

Description

An archmage of great power is overseeing the reactivation of the ley energy node. With the progress they have made, our only hope of stopping them is by killing him. It will be difficult, he is no doubt protected by many other mages and warders.

You must go, and you must dispatch him quickly. When he is dead, retrieve his staff for me. Go now.

Reward

You can choose one of these awards:
Ceranium Rod
Camouflaged Tunic

Progress

Quickly, time runs short, <name>!

Completion

The magic of the wizards dissipates, and the ley energies fade into dormancy. Your efforts have been fruitful, <name>, and we have dealt a major blow to our enemies, and to the overbearing wizards of Dalaran.

We must be vigilant, however, knowing that source of energy lies so close at hand... Plans must be made for the future.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 175 experience (10 50 at max. level)
  • 250 Reputation with Undercity

You can find him at 63, 64 at the Ambermill town hall building with the wall around it.

There'll be 3-4 other Dalaran units in there with him (Always seems to be at least one Conjurer with a Voidwalker in there as well, sometimes 2 or 3 of them). Needless to say, it's a pain. If you're a rogue, you can stealth in, kill the archmage quick, and either run out or die. If you can't stealth, you'll probably need a group unless you're at least 22+.

Doable as a level 18 mage, with some strategy.

First, carefully watch the patrols outside the villa, particularly the Conjurer who goes inside. When safe, pull the conjurers to the sides of the entrance and the warder at the doorpost, sheeping any adds you get as necessary. Also beware of the mobs that patrol the road.

Then pull the conjurer patroller and kill her.

Now, you should be able to go inside and pull the mobs in the archmages room. Get away from the room to the left as you go in as soon as possible in case the wandering conjurer respawns, cause she goes in there. If you spot her patrolling again, you can kill her again just to be safe.

Doable as a level 20 Warlock using a Voidwalker as well. It takes a bit of strategy, seeing how the building Ataeric is in is extremely cramped.

All you need to do is properly pull a target and crowd control any add-ons. Let's say you use Curse of Agony on a Conjurer, and another Conjurer tags along, have your Voidwalker attack them and use Torment on each at least once, from there you could use Rain of Fire a couple times to finish them off, or take the mobs out one by one.

It's relatively simple. :) I never want to do this quest again though. Ghostlands is a much better zone for 10-20.

Alright, did this one as a 21 rogue. Stealthed in, and got TO him just fine. WATCH OUT though. The little nut runs around the room like a crazy little freak! He ended up aggroing the whole room anyways, and I just barely killed him before the entire room killed me. Have your various ""stop moving you crazy little freak"" attacks ready.

Did finish it though. Just ran back, rezzed on his corpse, grabbed the staff, and let them kill me again. Haha. Tried sprinting, but they have lots of slowing spells in there.

Soloed by level 20 priest. Ran in the room, and of course got overrun by mobs. I then ressed in the corner, behinde a bookshelf. Only the archmage aggroed me, and I took him down with ranged spells. Once he was dead I ran and looted him, feared the mobs in the room and ran for my life.

I try several times to do this quest - 18 lvl, 20 lvl and 26 lvl as mage. Done as 26 lvl. Actually as 26 lvl it took me 3 min to complete it. First kill Conjurer's and Void walkers. After this other gays and archmage. He is 22 lvl (not elite)

This quest must have been nerfed considerably - there were only 3 mobs inside the building. I simply killed the first one, sapped the next and killed the mage, afterwards moving on to the sapped one. Done by a 19 rogue. This could possibly work with a mage polymorphing as well.

I was going to say the same thing...

Easy quest as a level 20 rogue and as a level 22 Priest?

You can pull each npc alone and take them down, and Ataeric is non-elite, very quick and easy quest.

This quest has been nerfed. The archmage is no longer elite, so the quest is soloable at the level range appropriate for the area.

solo on a lvl 21 rogue, with cruel barb (dead mines) main hand and buzzer blade (dead mines) in off hand used evade and 1 health pot, try to use 'sap' on the warrior standing near them, oh, and one other thing, you cant stealth on him, which is why i didnt do ambush, he also runs around atracting the 3 mobs in room.

Couldnt do this quest as a level 16 priest...but looking at your comments it makes sense. Gonna try it again when I reach 20.
