Rescue From Jaedenar

Escort Arko'narin to where Lightforge and her equipment are being held, and then protect her as you escape Shadow Hold. Afterwards, seek out Jessir Moonbow in Felwood to let her know what's happened to her friends.
  •
Protect Arko'narin out of Shadow Hold

Description

But, as much as it pains me, there is one thing that must be done first: I have to find Trey's sword Lightforge and escape Shadow Hold to tell my superiors what's happening here. Can you help me, <name>?

Our equipment isn't far from here, and you've already proven you can survive the path to the top.

After we escape, I'll head to Darnassus if you can find my friend Jessir near the Ashenvale border. She was to meet us at the Emerald Circle's camp near there.

What do you say, <name>? Can you help me again?

Progress

You look winded, <name>. Are you all right, or is something wrong?

Completion

You were the one who helped Arko escape? I'm so glad you found me. She passed by here not too long ago on her way to Darnassus. She had Lightforge in tow and wouldn't even take time to speak to the druids to be healed. She said it was far too urgent.

But she did tell me about your encounter with Trey's spirit. What a terrible fate for a Knight of the Silver Hand. She didn't show it, but I know it's tearing her up inside, the thought of losing one of her closest friends.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 565 experience (33 90 at max. level)

This is actually not that hard of a quest, except when Arko'narin finally gets her gear. Once you get to the big room where her gear is located, she gets excited and runs right to it. She will likely pull two mobs. If you can get in front of her before she says ""There it is!"", you can pull the big blue demon standing against the right wall. He will come by himself and Arko'narin will help you fight. After you put that guy down, let Arko'narin run to her gear. She will likely pull aggro on another mob, and you want that to happen. This puts her into combat and keeps her from changing into her gear too soon. Take the mob down and then heal up immediately if you need it. It's important to be at full strength very soon.

As soon as Arko'narin has her gear on, three blue demons walk into the room. She will charge them without hesitation. This is not as bad as it sounds, as she now has boosted armor and an enchanted sword. She also likes to use Mortal Strikes. Still, it's best to focus on whichever one she is attacking. You might also want to pull aggro on one, because she can't handle all three on her own. If you get aggro on all three, expect to spend some time in the air. The demons have a nasty pop-up attack and it can hit while you are in the air. They juggled my shaman for a few seconds. This limits you to instant cast spells and attacks.

The good news is that if you had to kill everything on the way in with her, the respawn is such that you will pretty much just walk out after the three demon fight. You might have to take down three or four mobs near the entrance, but that's all. Once you are outside, you might also have to take out the two guards on either side of the door. After a few seconds outside, Arko'narin will be charged by a level 55 elite, the Spirit of Trey Lightforge. Despite his level, he is not too difficult. The Spirit has an attack that reduces your Shadow resistance by 100, and of course it uses shadow attacks. That's why you don't want to start tanking right away. It's best to throttle your DPS and let Arko'narin tank a bit early on. When you see her life start to drop in the 50% range, open up and pull aggro onto yourself. If you have healing abilities, you can start even earlier.

My 55 shaman soloed this with no problem. Healing makes a big difference, however.

The mobs inside have ~5 min respawn time, so before the quest, I cleared the whole way so that when I started the quest, I only had to kill the mobs that spawned as a result of the quest. The only hard part was the level 53 elite that spawned at the exit of Jaedenar but i managed to kill him.

I actually had quite a bit of trouble with this one. As a 55 demo lock it was easy until she got her weapon and armor. As soon as the 3 felguards spawned I killed them but she walked down the hall right away and 3 more were attacking her, giving me absolutely no time to regen, and i was low on mana. Also my pet was down to 1/3 life. I had to use feldom in this fight and summon another felguard, but she died before i could finish off the last of the 3 demons. pain in the butt.

Be aware that Trey likes to use Holy Light a lot, which heals him for 1500 or so. As a 54 warrior, a well-timed Pummel did the trick nicely. He also uses a ~400 damage Shadow Bolt and ~150 melee on plate.

Note that your heals will not work on Arko'narin, at least during her fight with the 3 demons after she gears up. This should have been solo-able, but after I wasted all my mana trying to heal her...well, things didn't turn out so well for either of us. Don't waste your time trying to keep her alive with heals.

As a shadow priest i found this quest pretty hard, when she ran to her gear she agroed 2 groups and after I wasted all my mana doing that other demons spawn, ones that interupt spells by knocking you into the air...really wow one of the more challenging escorts in the game imo. Trey was ez mode compared to the time we fended off 5 or so waves of mobs. Remember this, only clear to her gear, makes it easier, have waters and a few pots this is a pain is the ass.....

I always find escort quests where you cant lead your protege yourself, a pain in the ass to solo...
Completely true for this quest. Standard escort tactics need to be used here:
- always let your protegee aggro the (group of) mob(s) first, let her tank while you kill the mobs one at a time... If her health gets low, try to get all the aggro...
- be careful with your own aggro, if a mob attacks you, the protegee wont always come to help you, you might lose important health/mana/time here.

If you apply these tactics on this quest you might just get lucky.. Be careful with the blue demons that spawn, and let Arko'narin do the tanking. Kill one at a time according to what demon she is focussing. This is the fastest way to dispose of them.. At the end when you exit the ""dungeon"" the elite Trey spawns but after all the pressure inside, it's a nice change to kill an lone elite out in the open. He is quite easy compared to the rest of the quest.

btw i was a lvl 55 balance night elf druid at the time of writing. A bit overleveled for sole pulls, but just high enough in level to solo this quest imo (at least for my class/build).

Good luck to y'all

Just tried this. For some reason there was a Felpaw Scavanger on the overhanging rock that leads out into the middle of the circle of candles evading (where she says something about a ritual or whatever). She ignored the wolf the first pass through the area, but on the way back out, she just sat there doing her 'say' emotes at the dog constantly. Both were on evade so I just couldn't do anything about it. Kind of funny really... Luckily it was about 10mins before a server reset.

This would do well to be listed as Group. Plate wearers might have no trouble, but at-level casters will most likely get trounced. I couldn't do it on my druid (had to come back around 58-60) now my mage ( 55 ) just keeps getting screwed by lame damage bursts or respawn avalanches. To make it even more fun, the graveyard is located in scenic Northrend. When you die, you'll need to fight your way back up the the start, and I would recommend finding a nice place to hide and alt+tab for 5-10 minutes and let all the mobs respawn before you get back down there with the chick. It's enough of a pain in the ass by itself without having to suddenly deal with 3 or 4 new mobs popping up.

Not the worst escort mission, but it still sucks.

Do yourself a favor. Bring a friend.

Oh, here's something fun I just learned. I was at the grave yard, and there spirit healer was not there. Not feeling like trying to run back to my body and get trounced again by the mobs all around my body, I had to run all the way to effing damn Astranaar to find another healer.
Fun tip: spirit healers bring you back to the original grave yard, not the current one! Isn't that GREAT?!

boy, i (57 afflic lock) got lucky and had a few random players help me out with this one...
just after she got her armor and stuff, two players (not sure if ally or horde) came from the pool area and helped kill off the three legionnaires that spawned (big blue dudes)... they must have been the people who cleared everything else before that, because i only had to kill one mob on the way to get the armor, and two mobs on the way out, since they had either previously killed them and they hadn't re-spawned yet OR they killed them on the way out.
whoever you are, thank you!
the spirit of trey fight was just me and arko and the voidwalker, pretty easy fight.
other than that, i would definitely recommend waiting a few lvls to try this one.. it's tough! i had tried at lvl 54 and got squished.
hope this helps!

Just doing this quest on my Sham sham right now and I ran into a rather annoying bug.
After the night elf has gotten her armor on, and started walking back the three felguards didn't spawn. I thought this was weird, but assumed it was just a spawn error. And continued on. Upon comming to the small room with the two felguards, the three felguards spawned behind me and agro'd...

To say the least i did some spectacular arial combat while fighting them only to die maybe not as spectacular. I figured I would at least post and warn people incase this happens again with others,

Solo'd as Level 54 Shadow Priest.

Cleared first. 3 Demons spawned in the room she gets her armor. She died first time tanking two of them, so had to redo (didn't die myself, so just had to walk back to the cage, killing everything again and retaking the quest).

Aggro'd two of them this time, and she managed to stay alive long enough for me to finish those two, and then kill the one she was on. Rest was pretty easy, just stayed a bit ahead of her killing mobs.

I just tried this as a 50 pally. Yeah, I love a good challenge ;)

I'm dual holy/prot. I tried holy first, thinking I could let her tank and then just heal and drop dps here and there. I actually put out some nice dps as holy but when I got to the part where the 3 lvl55 felguards spawn, I just got overwhelmed and had to corpse run. So then I tried prot. Not a problem at all. My gear is somewhere between ""quest greens"" and ""twink"".

Somewhat off-topic, but nowhere else I can see on here to posit this:

Does anyone else get the impression that Shadow Hold was an instanced dungeon that Blizzard changed its mind about? Blizz likes to reuse underground dungeon maps for standard caves and such, but there's no other underground map in the game like Shadow Hold. In addition, there are several named mobs in it that are spaced like one would expect for an instance. The mobs outside the entrance are like what is found in other Original WoW instances. And there is no other instanced dungeon in Felwood. I have a sense that Blizz had designed this to be an instance for the zone, but for whatever reason decided it just wanted it to be a uniquely-designed mini-dungeon instead.

If you die while doing this quest, it IS possible to run straight back and have the escort still be alive. When I was doing this on my level 57 mage today, I mis-estimated the knockback from the legionnaires (which also spawned wrong and we got 5 of them attacking at once because the three from behind spawned late and she'd already engaged the few further up) and I ended up dying. I ran straight back from the spirit healer and the escort was still alive with almost 700 health. I was able to heal/mana up enough and crank out enough damage to pull aggro back onto me and kill them, and continue on with the escort. I was surprised to find she survived that long without my help, as it's a fairly decent run back from the Irontree woods area.

Should be noted that the time it takes for a frost mage and a SP to run from the first brazier to the fourth and back is as much as it takes for you to run back from the graveyard.

I was doing this quest as part of Loremaster and I was reading about it while traveling. I've probably done it 4-5 times on other characters.

I was a little bit shocked by some of the comments...If you cannot solo this as a level 50-51 you're seriously doing something wrong. I don't mean to troll but I really just don't know how someone who has problems soloing stuff like this(especially as a 55 lock with all its CC) doesn't have difficulty in the ENTIRE game. It's just a standard escort quest like any of a dozen.
