Flawless Fel Essence

Impsy in Felwood has asked that you bring him three Flawless Fel Essences originating from three distinct locations.

The Legashi Satyrs of Azshara hold the Flawless Fel Essence of their region. The Jaedenar Legionnaires of Jaedenar hold the Flawless Fel Essence of their region. The Felguard Sentries of the Blasted Lands hold the Flawless Fel Essence of their region.

Recover the Flawless Fel Essences and return to Impsy in Felwood.
Flawless Fel Essence (Azshara)
Flawless Fel Essence (Jaedenar)
Flawless Fel Essence (Dark Portal)

Description

If you're going to reanimate Kroshius, you're going to need Fel fire. I can make Fel fire but it's going to require some components.

You need to bring me flawless Fel essences from three distinct regions of the world.

The Legashi Satyrs of Azshara will have the first essence type; the Jaedenar legionnaires of Jaedenar the second type and the felguard sentries of the Blasted Lands the third.

Bring me back one of each essence type and I will create the Fel fire, allowing you to reanimate Kroshius.

Progress

Don't tell anyone this but Niby is daft.

Completion

Give me a minute and I'll combine the essences into Fel fire.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 565 experience (33 90 at max. level)

Pick up the quest from Niby in Felwood. Hes about center in, by Bloodvenom Post near the green lake.

The first gem is in Azshara (lvl 51-52 saytrs), one in Felwood (in a cave lvl 54-55 doomguards), and one in The blasted lands (lvl 54-55 doomguards with 54-55 felhunter minions) Each dropped off of the 1st and 2nd mobs.

Killing KROSHIUS is not that hard either, I did it at lvl 54. It all depends on your spec, I'm demonology and ran out of mana 3/4 of the way through. Different specs can do it at different levels. There are basically 2 options:

Option 1: FEAR, DOT, WAND, FEAR, DOT, WAND ... DEAD.

Option 2: Enslave a nearby infernal and go mortal combat on him with added DOTs.

Azshare Fell Essence:
Azshare. At the Legash Encampment. (51,19) Drops from any mob.

Jeadenar Fell Essence:
In Felwood. (35,58) Look for Jeadenar Legionaire underground. Very low drop rate, took me ages. But is possible at lvl 50 solo.

The Dark portal Fell Essence:
Blasted Lands. In the vacinity of the Dark Portal (58,50) Get Voidy (Felguard) to tank the Doomguards and banish the Felhunters. Hard to do at 50 as they resist, but possible.

Bit of a pain to do all this at level 50, but possible if your patiant.

People put bad information here, and make us lose a lot of time.
To make things clear about the dark portal, you DON'T need to kill doomguard as someone posted here. As you can clearly read in the quest, who you need to kill are the felguards!

Just a note... be careful when you get the piece from Felwood. Hubby is a 'lock and I was helping him, and you go into a cave (as a previous poster said). Also in that cave is an escort quest... and part of the escort quest summons three doom guards.

These can literally spell your doom if you aren't paying attention. As a note, there's a small strip of water that bisects the cave with two oozes in the water. Those three doom guards summon into the chamber before the oozes.

Other than that, the quest was pretty straight forward.

Difficulty in terms of nearby mobs and location of the ones you have to kill (this is just from my personal experience):

Felwood: Hardest part is getting into the cavern with the Legionnaires. Once you're in, though, they're pretty much pushovers.

Blasted Lands: Probably the most difficult. The Felguards that drop the Fel Essence always have a Felhound with them, and the Felhound has a Mana Burn ability (on top of that, they don't have a mana bar, so you can't drain them to keep them from using Mana Burn) that will severely cripple you or your Minion. You can Banish the Felhound and just run after you kill Felguard, but there are 2 problems with this approach:
1) Other Felguards patrol the area, and you can't just Banish three of the mobs while you kill one;
2) The Felhounds seem to have a fairly high Shadow resistance (might just be because I was 54 at the time), so they might keep resisting your Curse of the Elements and your Banish.
Then there's the Servants that are only killable if you are doing that quest....

Azshara: Probably the biggest problem will be just finding a Satyr to kill for the drop. They aren't very hard to kill, and the drop rate's pretty decent for a quest like this, but most people (most likely non-Warlocks) probably kill them just for drops such as Felcloth, so finding enough satyrs might be a problem.

For those without co-ords

Jeadenar essence is dropped by Legionnares in the Shadow Hold cave, near the tainted moonwell.

Ashara Satyrs in the far north of Ashara drop the Ashara essence.

You cant really miss the dark portal ^^

There's a lot of bad information here. I am a level 50 affliction lock (best for soloing) and this cave in felwood is the most horrible place I have ever seen while leveling. it is packed full of mobs all of which are around level 52+, and the felguards you need to kill are 55, and their drop rate is horrendous. even with another 50 lock with me, this quest took so long and we never saw a drop and had to abandon it. it is NOT a pushover, wait until you're higher level or bring help because you WILL need it.

Seems like they improved the drop rate. I was in felwood questing anyway so i went jaedenar to do the quests there, and the first kill off the first legionnaire i saw dropped the fel essence. It was tough as hell, because i was only 50, and the legionnaire is 55, red to me. Died once due to mistake, succeeded on the 2nd try. Next i went to azshara and the 5th satyr dropped the essence. Not bad.

The drop rate was hard because there aren't very many Legionaire's. Got mine off my 3rd kill. Halfway down the tunnel past the water. This quest goes well with Dousing the Flames of Protection
https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=5165 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=5165 . Did this at 52. Not to hard with Felguard. Just kept up Mana feed and dots. Demonology full speced. FTW.

I did this at level 70 and got 12650 exp. The quest itself appeared as a level 70 quest while I was doing it; pretty nifty. (The followup was also level 70 and gave me 15800 exp.)

51 Demon Lock. And Shadow Hold is still a pain.

The Legionaire's are few and far between and even deeper in that cave. They are level 55 and surrounded by 52 - 55 warlocks. Most of NPC locks have their pets out as well and they are tightly packed together.

I did the quest, https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=5165 Dousing the Flames of Protection with this one.

In the cave use a combo of pets, your Felhunter for the cloth enemies and your void for the Legionaires. Let your pets do most of the hitting and just dot the enemies. Anymore and you will pull aggro which isn't good since the enemies will be higher level than you if you are just 50. I hearthed out after dousing the flames and getting the essence. The essence I received off the third Legionaire I killed.

This quest is really a level 55, all the other quests in the this cave are that level. Bring elixirs, scrolls and lots of potions to help out.

The only reason to attempt this as soon as you ding 50 is if you're a nutjob like myself determined to drop infernals on peoples' heads for fun. If you're not stubborn and patient, don't waste your time and wait til 53+.

True to what everyone is saying, this quest is difficult. Besides Azshara, most of the mobs you'll be facing will be level 54~55, and in addition, at the Dark Portal, they'll be level 54~55 and will have a same level pet.

The best thing to do if you insist on soloing this at level 50, is to respec to Demonology and do this quest with your Felguard. Be sure to cast Curse of Elements on anything you intend to Banish, or your Banish will Miss and Resist repeatedly.

Good luck!

Jeadenar Fell Essence tip: There's an escort quest started with locked cage, that causes to spawn at least 5 Legionaires. I had hard time looking for it, but it's easy to find: when you travel through Felwood you find a sign pointing into Jeadenar direction. In this place map shows a cave. You go there and there's entrance to some underground caves, but it's not the entrance you need. Just ignore this one, right to the first underground entrance is unmarked route on top of the hill, you go there upwards sticking to right side and finally get to proper cave.

At level 74+ this quest can be done pretty quickly, due to being able to hearth/port from Dalaran.

For Horde:
Start in Orgimmar. If you don't have the flight path in Felwood, fly to your closest flight point which is either Crossroads, Barrens or some little outpost in Ashenvale.
Note: If you don't have the Splintertree Post flightpath in Ashenvale already, it might be worth while to pick up before you head into Felwood so that you can fly there when heading to Azharra to save you a minute or two.
Ride to Felwood, pick up the flightpath if you didn't already have it, and go find Impsy. Get this quest.
Go to Jaedenar and do the escort quest, Rescue from Jaedenar, quickest way to get the fel essence to drop here; stated multiple times already.
Fly to Splintertree Post then ride to Azharra and get the Fel Essence there. Hearth back to Dalaran and port to city of choosing.
Find the mage portal to Blasted lands, kill the Fel Guards here. (I had issues finding some here, there are some on the sides by the mountains.)
Go through the Dark Portal, fly to Shatt and portal to Orgrimmar. Fly to Felwood, turn in the quest and you're done with this part.

For Alliance:
Start in Darnassus. If you don't have the flight path in Felwood, fly to your closest flight point which will hopefully be Astranaar. If its not, you got some running to do.
Fly/Ride to Felwood, pick up the flightpath if you don't have it, and go find Impsy. Get this quest.
Go to Jaedenar and do the escort quest, Rescue from Jaedenar, quickest way to get the fel essence to drop here; stated multiple times already.
Ride to Azharra and get the Fel Essence there. Hearth back to Dalaran and port to city of choosing.
Find the mage portal to Blasted lands, kill the Fel Guards here. (I had issues finding some here, there are some on the sides by the mountains.)
Go through the Dark Portal, fly to Shatt and portal to Darnassus. Fly to Felwood, turn in the quest and you're done with this part.

Its pretty simple, but I hope it helps someone save a minute or two.
