Above and Beyond

Venture to Stratholme and destroy Baron Rivendare. Take his head and return to Duke Nicholas Zverenhoff.
Head of Baron Rivendare

Description

You display a natural aptitude for destruction and you follow orders. It is rare to see the two coexist. I am beginning to think that you may make an excellent vehicle of divine justice.

<Zverenhoff clasps his hands together in front of his face.>

Kel'Thuzad's errand boy rules over Stratholme. Prove to me that you are a champion - my champion. Destroy Baron Rivendare and return to me with his head.

Progress

The Baron has slain more people than you have most likely seen in your lifetime.

Completion

It has been many years since I have ushered a champion into our ranks. You are the first to be granted audience with Lord Maxwell in years.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 830 experience (49 80 at max. level)
  • 150 Reputation with Argent Dawn

The key to doing that in a 5 man is to only pull the first one, and pull it to the very back. Then when an add wanders in you let it run to the back and then shackle it. Kill the add after the first one is done. After you kill the add you rest for mana. You always let them wander in on their own in a 5 man, unless you are very comfortable about pulling. Every one of the abominations will wander in on it's own, so you only need to pull the first one. Always stay at the back of entryway by the gate. This way when you kill the last Abom and Rammstien comes out (his aggro range is huge), you have enough time to let the casters regain mana before he charges the group.

After Rammstien dies (try to remain back in the entryway still) the army of non-elite undead come after the group, AoE them, using any way you can to make them all stay in one spot. Warriors have Challenging Shout, Tauren have War Stomp, and Mages have that Frost Nova. Just make them all stay still for the AoE and you'll be fine.

As soon as those guys die the REAL hard part comes. If you've never fought the 5 elite guards in a 5 man group before, then this will be very difficult. The key is to hold off on AoE until the tank establishes aggro on all the guards. Once the tank has the aggro under control you can AoE to your heart's content. A good idea is for the Mage to do the Frost Nova followed by Arcan Explosion until he's out of mana.

Thus ends the Slaughterhouse Courtyard fun.

This quest actually gives 1,000 Argent Dawn rep, contrary to the 350 posted above.

Ok. I just did this quest and saw this firsthand in my log, so I'm pretty sure about this stuff.

If you all recall, there was a patch a while ago which said it increased the ease by which one reps up with old school factions. I'm pretty sure AD is included in this. Over the last few days, I've finished off every Strat quest. Most of them have rewarded me with 1,000 rep. The entries here seem to be out of date.

This quest now rewards 1,000 Argent Dawn reputation, not the listed 350. This quest alone, that is. I'm not including the follow-up.

The follow-up to this, which sends you to Tyrosus, awards 500 rep. It doesn't end there. The final quest in this chain, in which Tyrosus sends you to get your reward from this chest, is an additional 1,000 rep.

So for this quest, in total, it's not the 500-1,000 you might think from looking at some of these entries. It's 2,500 rep. If you're looking to get exalted with the Argent Dawn, it is absolutely a must to do this imo. If you're a geared 70, this last solo Rivendare run will net you quite a bit of rep.

6 Corrupter's Scourgestones = 900 rep
10+ Invader's Scourgestones (avoiding most trash) = 150 rep
Rivendare kill within timer = 400 rep
Quest chain completion = 2500 rep
Miscellaneous trash rep = 50 rep
= 4,000 Argent Dawn reputation

To find the Baron you need to kill the low Bosses and then the mobs inside the green areas behind them. That opens the gate to get to the Baron
