Description

Satisfaction. It is what I draw from the hammer and the anvil. To see a proud Horde warrior protected under my steel reminds me of what it is to be alive. It is an addiction that I dare never give up, <name>.

I can not grant you this satisfaction, merely set you upon the path. As with all of life's endeavors, the path of the armorsmith is a journey.

If you wish to be one of the select few, you need only to ask and I shall train, but, a task you must first complete.

Reward

The following spell will be cast on you:
Artisan Armorsmith

Progress

I will pound the steel until the breath itself has been taken from me.

Completion

This is the final step before you begin your new career as an armorsmith, <name>. Should you choose to back out, now would be your last chance. Otherwise, prepare yourself for a lifetime of glory.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 470 experience (28 20 at max. level)

You have to do The Old Ways (https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2756 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2756) before you can start the questline to learn to make the ornate mithril plans.

Very important note:

You have to talk to Krathok Moltenfist (who is right next to Okothos) and tell him you want to be an Armorsmith. Only then can you get this quest.

Allot of work but better to have it all ready
instead of flying back and forth for mats...
Here is the total of what you need of all mats to
become armorsmith form the start to finish...

Mithril Bars: 342
Truesilver bars: 23
Solid Grinding stones: 9
Thick leather: 26
Aquamarine: 2
Heart of fire: 1
Iron bars: 40
Mageweave cloth: 18
Citrine: 4

Now, go grind what you need and you'll become
an armorsmith even faster!

Note: Try to have some extra of all mats just in case ;)

This quest takes a LOT of mats and time and etc etc. Since Blizzard introduced un-specializing, the easiest way to become an Armorsmith is actually to become a Weaponsmith, unlearn Weaponsmithing, and then get Armorsmithing. By doing it this way you do not have to do the Armorsmithing quest.

I can confirm this. I just did it all yesterday. Turned in the weapons, became a weaponsmith. Later the same day I dropped Weaponsmithing and picked up Armorsmithing. You talk to the Weaponsmith trainer to unlearn it, then talk to the main trainer that gave you the quest and choose Armorsmithing as your new specialty.

I just did the Armorsmith quest and this is the order of quests that u need to do

First you will need to have your Blacksmithing at, at least 220 before you start this quest chain

The Old Ways (https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2756 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2756)

then when u have done that talk to a tauren named Ox (i think i'm right) but he's right by to the guy that you get The Old Ways quest next to an anvil. He gives you a quest to talk to a guy in Booty Bay (in Stranglethorn Vale)

then the npc in Booty Bay will send u to Galvan the Ancient (in Stranglethorn). Galvan will give you the following quests

https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2761 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2761
https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2763 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2763
https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2762 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2762

once you have done that Galvan will send you to Trenton Lighthammer (in Gadgetzan) for these following quests...

https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2772 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2772
https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2771 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2771
https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2773 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2773

Once you have compleated this Quest chain you will be able to make all the items that you kneed for you armorsmithing quest

All in all the mats that u kneed are as follows...

345 Mithril
35 Truesilver
160 iron ore ( 120 of it will be smelted into Steel )
12 Heavy Grinding Stones
13 Solid Grinding Stones
18 Mageweave Cloth
18 Thick leather
4 Citrien
2 Aquamarien
1 Heart of fire

**** It is Very Highly Sugested that you gather all of the mats Before you Begin this Quest chain ****

note - most of this information for the quest you need was found in the previous posters post's, I don't want to take all the credit of work people have already done.

If you know someone who can make the items, you can save alot of mats. just do the old ways quest, get the armorsmith quest and have the items made by someone else.

Being an Armorsmith after the Burning Crusade expansion is relatively useless to any player. The gear it renders you with is OBSOLETE. The mats you turn in can be sold for a good amount of gold that could be better used toward your main or alt. You don't get an achievement for becoming an Armorsmith, and it does not count towards Loremaster of Kalimdor-Eastern Kingdoms. It does count towards the 3000 quests achievement. Other than that you get an icon in your spellbook. I finished this series up today on the Horde faction only for my ""the Seeker"" title in the future. My end reward should have been plans for a ""Dull Copper Dunce Cap"".

Ain't that quest got removed in 4.0.1? I'm actually trying to get my BS skills up to 215 to do the prerequisite, but Okothos isn't giving any quests at 200 BS skills anymore.

Anyone got an answer?

well at 219 Blacksmithing and having done the chain for the Barbaric iron patterns i received the quest The Old Ways. not going to do them because of how lazy I am, but it seems you may still obtain the quest line. You might have to have done the quests for the barbaric patterns first to unlock this chain when you get the blacksmithing level for it.

Well.....Blizzard canceled all proffesion specializations to make all the proffession's content available to use instead of only have core and than some bonus stuff from specializations.

Quests which give you recipes or give you quest line for recipes (such as The Old Ways - leading to quest chain with original armorsmith patterns) are still in game.

Quests which made you specialized in proffessions not.
