Hillsbrad Human Skull (30)

Description

I hear you were enlisted by Darthalia to wage war on the humans of Hillsbrad. So jealous I am. . .

While you're off having all the fun -- slaying humans, pillaging the town, terrorizing innocent people -- I am stuck standing guard here in Tarren Mill.

Perhaps you'll take pity on an old Deathguard like myself? You see I am collecting human skulls. And you will be fighting humans for quite some time. Over the course of your long battle, bring me 30 skulls and I will make it worth your while.

Reward

You will receive:
Skull Ring

Progress

So the lucky <name> returns? How many humans have you slaughtered today? Hundreds I do hope!

Have you any skulls for me?

Completion

Precious skulls! So beautiful! I owe you as promised, <name>!

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 255 experience (15 30 at max. level)
  • 350 Reputation with Undercity

This quest is not available until you complete the first ""Battle of Hillsbrad"" quest.

This quest is one of the most infamous ""collect x"" quests in the game, I think. Anyone who does this quest will discover that the humans of Hillsbrad are strange, mutant beings, of which, relatively few have skulls. Maybe a quarter of them have skulls, but that's about it.

Unless you want to farm the area for the skulls, I'd say work on the Battle of Hillsbrad questline while doing this quest. Basically after you complete one of the Battle of Hillsbrad quests, go turn it in and go back to the area. You'll be here for awhile working on completing the questline in the Hillsbrad Fields area.

Also, be sure to pick this quest up while you're there. https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=567 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=567

The droprate istn that bad. You'll usually get 1 very 3 kill. And since you probably have the quests https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=527 Battle of Hillsbrad and https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=567 Dangerous!, you'll have all the time to get all the 30 skulls.

This is a bad quest drop rate wise. But other than that, it isn't too bad of a quest, you just go back to Hillsbrad Fields and kill all the Hillsbrad people that you see there. Statistically, Hillsbrad Peasants drop rate is the highest.

As a 25 UD mage, i had the best luck farming skulls at Durnholde keep. Just about every shadow mage and syndicate rogue dropped a skull (3 out of 4 drop rate). And the watchmen dropped about half the time.

I agree that this is one of those quests that, in theory, should finish its self while you're completing the other related quests. I've now completed the https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=539 Battle of Hillsbrad - part 5 which is the last one that requires me killing humans (following one is dwarves), and by the time I was finished it I was still lacking 14 skulls.

Considering I've done the entire series solo I didn't have to share my precious bones with anyone, but still coming up short every time I do this quest (3rd time withing a short time frame). I guess I'm just smashing them too hard and crushing their heads.

However I'd like to argue that the sentries around the mine have a very decent drop rate (or have had for me at least) but they come in few numbers (and have an annoying habit of calling in their friends to help them).

Just for teh LoLs, the guy who gives this quest is called Deathguard SAMSA

As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect.

Seems he tried to sleep as an insect and woke up as an undead

Either the droprate on the skulls was boosted to 100% or I should play the lottery more often. I got 30 from 30 at least.

Sorry if it was in the questnotes and I missed it - Im sure others did aswell if that is the case ^^

I was doing this while doing the other Hillsbrad Foothills quests, and I guess I must be lucky or something but I swear like almost all of the Hillsbrad peasants or farmhands or footmen or councilmen I killed dropped skulls... :)

This quest is bugged for me. :(

Edit: I guess I should elaborate.

The quest log thinks I have 30 skulls, when in reality I only have 28. This means I can't drop anymore skulls, nor turn the quest in. I suppose I could abandon the quest and try to take it again?

2 things. 1). I killed 15 peasants chain in ""Battles of Hillsbrad"", and got 15 skulls. They seem to always drop it. 2). Zerste AKA Goyoma, it could be possible you put 2 skulls in your bank by accident. Bank quest items will show up in your log. Did you possibly deposit 2 at some point?
