Easier with a friend, but not hard. Cave at 43,46 has a moonkin stone that you put the dust on. A level 12-13 will spawn outside and come in at you.

as Zodin commented here: https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=12138#z0z https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=12138#z0z Lunaclaw seems to be much easier than the mobs outside. When summoned, Lunaclaw will not aggro the other mobs, so there is no need to clear. You can run into the cave, take the death from the other mobs, it's a relatively short run from the graveyard. Rez on the stone, be sure to buff yourself like I forgot to do, and summon Lunaclaw.

Moonfire, (I tossed Rejuv on myself from the start) and Wrath, rinse and repeat until dead. I popped one Minor Health Pot but that was it. If I'd been buffed I may not have needed that. A relatively easy fight, once you get past the mobs guarding the cave.

Soloable. Just run around the outside mobs into the cave, its empty. Lunaclaw is weak, hits for about 14-18. Easily outhealable. Just get around the outside mobs and your set.

I had a real hard time killing the level 13 moonkin infront of the cave. After failing multiple times, I decided to rank 1 moonfire kite him to the guards in auderdine.

This wasn't hard to do at all when you are level 10, solo. Just make sure you have some water (pref Ice Cold Milk), and then head over to the cave. Cast 2-3 wrath on a moonkin, entangling roots, walk away, moonfire, and wrath him until he's dead.

Drink some water, repeat. They are easily pullable one by one.

This quest can be made easier if you have Alchemy as one of your skills. That way you can provide your own potions to buff yourself more. I personally used a Weak Troll's Blood Potion and an Elixer of Minor Defense. They help a lot.

The easiest way to kill the moonkins (both outside the cave and Lunaclaw) himself is to root, moonfire, and then wait. Let your mana regen a bit, then when roots break, re-root and re-moonfire. Back up, repeat as necessary. Just avoid spamming wrath, because it runs you OOM quickly and it gives a chance for the roots to break early.

If you did Zenn's Bidding ( https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=488 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=488 ) you should have a 5-stack of Severed Voodoo Claws in your inventory ( https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=5457 https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=5457 ). These reduce melee damage from mobs by a small amount but are great for this quest. Just debuff Lunaclaw and you should have no issues whatsoever.

I did this with another level 10 Druid, it was very easy. Basically, the outside Moonkin, we just kept using Wrath, and Moonfire, and would Root it as needed.

Just run out after you spawn it, root the mob and run back in the cave, spam Wrath and a Moonfire when roots wear off. For me roots didn't break so it died once it reached me melee... not hard, you just make it sound hard guys. :P

Well the horde version certainly was easier

This being my first ally druid I didnt have any clue, overpulled and almost wiped on the doomkins outside. They hit quite hard but as long as you only pull 1 at the time you'll be fine.

On Lunaclaw, just run to the exit of the cave so you can root him, then fire off a couple of wrath and a moonfire, root again, wrath and moonfire spam.

Did this as a level 11, would have worked as level 10 also, no need to run in and die to ress in the cave.

its just east of Auberdine, just outside the city. you'll see a three-way intersection, and its in the field to the northeast. all in all a 30 second run.

i had an issue with this. first off, lunaclaw was out in the entrance of the cave when i got there...and didnt even attack when i put the stuff on the rock...so i took the initiative and killed him :) then the little like 'lunaclaw killed: 1/1' thing came up so i went back to whatshisface, clicked to complete the quest...and didnt find the bear form ability anywhere. i dont remember where it was when i did cat form...any help? i looked in my spell book and looked in all the training options. im stumped. did the whole damn chain of quests and i still cant be a fricken bear.

Did this as a level 10 druid. Very simple quest. Used moonfire and wrath, and was done in maybe 20 seconds. You can avoid the mobs by going around the front entrance, jumping up on to the top of the cave and dropping down.

Very Simple

I mention this because I was an idiot and it could help avoid pain by others who unfortunately think like I do. You're given the quest in Nighthaven, not Auberdine. If you run east from Nighthaven you'll find the Stormrage Barrow Dens and think they're the moonkin caves. Eventually you'll enter one full of hostiles of a very high level and die an ignoble death. Yeah, that was a forehead smacker.

The flight path from Nighthaven to Auberdine is a bit pricey for a level 10: over 7 silver. You've got better things to spend it on, unless you're an alt with a rich uncle. Better to hearthstone back to Teldrassil and take the free flight or ferry from Rut'theran Village, which is accessed through the portal in western Darnassus.

I solo'd as an 11 Druid. Picked off the outside mobs with Entangling Roots, a couple Wraths, a Moonfire, and maybe one more Wrath. He doesn't just appear; he enters through the cave entrance, so make sure you don't have your back to the entrance after applying the moondust. He was a cupcake.

Does anyone know if the quest is still required to get bear form as a druid (since two of the other class quests are obsolete), or will you be able to learn it from a trainer at a later level?

I don't really have a comment. I have a question. I'm fairly new to the game and this is My first Druid. I don't know where this quest is located can someone tell Me where to find it. It says Auberdine, but then this site says somewhere in Southern Barrens. But if the Alliance part is Near Auberdine or something where is this cave? Thanks

Lol at first i had planned to shadowmeld before it got m, let my mana come back a bit, then kill it but it hit me a few times in shadowmeld so i didnt have full mana. I had to heal once for the safe side, but over all easily solo'able at level 11 or 10 even.

If you do a faction change, you can do the counterpart of the quest even if you did it on your original faction.
I transferred my Nightelf into a Tauren, and although I did the origial (Alliance) quest I received the horde equivalent. At lvl76, it awarded 25.000 xp (just the last quest, plus the ones before), 500 Cen. Circle reputation.
It easy xp/reputation.

Fairly easy quest. Straight forward kill moonkin when it appears and then talk to it's spirit. In comparison to the horde's counterpart, you have to kill stuff to actually get there but think of it as extra experience.
