The Scarlet Oracle, Demetria

The Scarlet Crusade is on the move. Somewhere along the road from Tyr's Hand to Stratholme you will find the Oracle, Demetria, and her entourage. Hunt her down and slay her. Return to Nathanos Blightcaller should you succeed.
  •
Demetria slain

Description

Demetria is chief advisor to the Grand Crusader. She is called the Oracle due to her 'otherworldly' senses. She has successfully assisted the Crusade in several of their victories against the Scourge.

While this ruse was successful in exposing her, if she truly does possess psychic powers, she will undoubtedly be expecting some sort of trouble. You are going to provide that 'trouble.'

Track down the Oracle and terminate her. They should be moving out of Tyr's Hand as we speak. Make me proud, worm.

Demetria herself is a shadow-priest type mob, with around 30,000 hit points.

She is escorted by 8-10 adds, each of which can heal and be resurrected by Demetria -- if in range.

The key to this encounter is to have a Mage bodypull the adds, and another member of the group use an instant spell on Demetria to separate her from the adds (which should be attacking the Mage). The adds have around 1200-1500 HP, so the Mage can easily kill them solo. However, the adds must ONLY be killed when they are out of range from resurrection by Demetria.

Once the adds are dead, return to the group who should already be grinding Demetria's HP down.

Grats on your new Bow/Wand/Shield!

Demetria only spawns when the quest is accepted. She starts in Tyr's Hand and walks along the road to Stratholme.

If, like me, you accept the quest but don't do it right away, you'll have to abandon and re-accept the quest.

There is a way you can seperate the adds from the main mob, regardless of them being resurrected. The key is when you kill the adds, as long as they are not within AGGRO range of you OR Demetria, then they will get resurrected and just stand there. I had a warlock use seed of corruption on them, and they all died and were all instantly resurrected. However, since we were not in aggro range of the adds, and since Demetria was not close enough to proximity aggro them, they just stood there and wandered around.

As a note, she has 9 adds with her 'Scarlet Trooper'

Nathanos actually say something not derogatory when you complete this quest chain, that is more reward than the blue imo lol.

The rewards for this quest are the same for the Alliance quest chain in which he is the target for killing the three SI-7 agents.

Soloed as a moonkin (level 70). Pop trees on the group, they will occupy the troopers, as you pull demetria, kite her with MF and IS. The troopers will run after you once they're done with the trees, but just keep kiting Demetria. If a trooper gets in range of a moonfire, do it, otherwise don't worry and keep kiting. Eventually she will die. At that point, barkskin and hurricane the adds down.

For the rogues who have difficulties finding somebody to do it with, you can get rid of the escort by sapping them one by one after Corin's Crossing. Just wait until the oracle and her bunch are out of sight and kill the sapped trooper. Repeat.

Be warned that they should not be aggroed by anyone, or those 9 guards will respawn when she gets out of combat.

Very easy for a shaman at level 70! Pop your Fire Elemental as the group approaches, then Frost Shock Dementia to aggro her off the FE and pull her back 40 yards or so. The FE will kill all the Troopers on its own while you can deal with Dementia. Remember to Earthshock her Mindflays and drop a Tremor Totem to clear her Pyschic Screams. Good luck! :)

70 Resto Shaman
I just meleed her down in the middle of all of them.
Totems: Stoneskin, Healing, Searing, WoA
Basically a continuous 13 second Hammer of Justice due to the adds, but after the third one, the duration is shorter and you become immune for about another 13 seconds. Earth Sheild Rank 1 + Healing Stream was more than enough to keep me up. Unlike the https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=12337 Crimson Courier's adds, these adds do not shield bash interrupt and cancel school spell-casting for 6 seconds. Therefore whith earth shield active, it is quite simple to heal through any excessive damage or un-resisted shadow spells from Demetria.

Later on (since she respawns in the like location of her demise about a minute or two later) I kited her (and half her adds) to LHC where I wanted the Argent Dawn to wreck havoc on this so-called Oracle of the Scarlet Crusade. Of course the lowly guards didn't attack, and on my behalf, I neglected to remember that earth bind totem causes alliance issues and the guards quickly dispatched me only feet from my destination. A similar event happened long ago in preBC with the infamous https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=11896 Borelgore. Sad day.

EDIT:<div class=""quote"">Remember to Earthshock her Mindflays and drop a Tremor Totem to clear her Pyschic Screams. Her mind flays were definitely not ESable for me, and yes I hit them, I'm not that bad :P
And yes, tremor does work on her fears.

As Warlock with voidwalker:
Aggro the lot of them with any spell. Send your VW to Demetria and let him stay still tanking her. Keep moving back - the adds will come with you. SoC the adds out of Demetria's range, switch to Demetria, GG.
Make sure YOU aggro first and not the VW or the adds will turn to him. If this happens, heal your VW (Health Funnel) and the adds will come to you eventually. Just make sure you SoC the adds only when they're far from Demetria.

Edit: Also make sure your VW's 'Suffering' spell is not automatic, but as a warlock you should know that :)

I was a bit unsure of how fast this group would move so after accepting the quest I followed the road through Corin's Crossing all the way to Stratholme without meeting the group. I then turned, rode back to Corin's Crossing and just east of there on the road to Tyr's Hand I found them.
Conclusion: They don't move fast :))

i'd play on Frostmourne, using my pally level 65, i did soloed it, with 2-3 heals on myself,
and using Greater Blessing of Sanctuary + Seal of Light, i could tank 3 times spawned of his mobs, and kill Demetria easily. Suggest u try it :)

Easily soloed by a Lvl 68 ret paladin. Simply focus on Demetria herself and wear her adds down with Consecration, Divine Storm, and Holy Wrath. She will stun you a few times, but she never came close to endangering me in any way, did not even have to heal myself or use a bubble during the fight. Having Greater Blessing of Might and Seal of Light on was enough, and I alternately judged Light and Wisdom.

She still seems to be moving slowly... VERY slowly. After handing the orders to the Scarlet Crusade guy I rushed back to Nathanos and then went straight to Tyr's Hand... still had a good 10 minutes left on the disguise. She wasn't there yet, so before turning around to follow the road I decided to read all the comments here. With 5 minutes left on my disguise she finally got out of Tyr's Hand.

So 2 things:
- rushing from Nathanos to Tyr's Hand + 5 minutes = she gets out of the gate
- remember to remove the disguise if you want to attack her :P

Accepted the quest, went to Tyr's Hand, didn't see her around the front gate, took the road to Strath, found the courier who I promptly murdered, reached Strath, still nothing. Turned around and followed the road back to Tyr's Hand and she was *just* leaving it. So I will have to agree with those saying she moves slow.

Since it was the middle of the night and nobody save me was in the zone, I refrained from killing her to let her group reach Corin's Crossing for amusement, they laid waste to the whole town, then I killed her.

Soloed as an 80 prot paladin (Extremely surprising /sarcasm), most likely can be soloed as prot many many levels lower (65ish I am sure).
