The Call to Command

Travel to the Undercity and speak with Varimathras.

Description

The order has come down, <class>. Varimathras himself has requested that I send my most 'capable' agents back to the Undercity for a highly sensitive tactical operation.

Unfortunately, my most capable agents were killed over three years ago. In their stead I have a collection of brain dead riff-raff.

<Nathanos stares coldly at you.>

Travel to the Undercity at once and report to Varimathras. Do not embarrass me, <class>!

Completion

The Grand Crusader sits safely in the Scarlet Bastion while his forces pour into your lands, desecrate your structures and monuments and murder your people.

The Dark Lady has commanded that I deal with this insect once and for all. You will become the instrument of the Forsaken's reckoning.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 67.5 experience (4 5 at max. level)
  • 10 Reputation with Undercity

Warning! After completing the main story line quest from Dragonblight, which leads you to assist Thrall in the Undercity battle, you won't see Varimathras anymore and cannot turn the quest in!

This quest will not be available until you have first finished the following quests:

This quest cannot be completed if you have killed Varimathras during the retaking of the Undercity event in Wrath.

I even tried requesting specifically that I could be flagged as having completed The Call to Command, and asked if they could give me the next quest in the chain, and I was simply told that 'they are unable to help me', so it seems Dragonrazor was extremely lucky/fortunate in his GM.

I can't imagine the amount of effort into putting in a new/placeholder NPC in a hotfix could amount to much more than making a new NPC with a different model/changing some quest scripts, surely?

Like most I found out the hard way, that the quest chain ends, if you killed Varimathras = /. However I've completed Lore Master of Eastern Kingdoms, and found that there are roughly 50 extra quests or so above and beyond what's needed for the achievement on the Horde side. Therefore it is very possible to still get the achievement with out this quest line. Infact I'd say it's easier than the Kalimdor one. Having said that I would still like to complete this quest line, before Catacalism goes live, just to experience the chain one last time. Hopefully Big V will get replaced soon.

got an in-game mail from a GM saying they've found a candidate to replace Varimathras, so pretty sure it will be implemented

Im a player who does the public test realm and in the new patch there is an orc npc to replace varithmas (With all the quests and stuff too!)

To those of you worried that you can't hand in or take Varimathras' quests due to him being killed during the Wrathgate/http://aowow.org/https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=13267 Battle for Undercity chain, there is a replacement coming to help you out in patch 3.3 as http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=19820328307&amp;pageNo=1&amp;sid=1#8 confirmed by a blue poster.

http://ptr.aowow.org/https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=36273 Bragor Bloodfist will be taking his place and giving/accepting all quests previously assosiated with Varimathras. So all you Seekers/Loremasters out there can put your fears to rest.

After 3.3, I went and turned ""Call to Command"" in to the new NPC replacing Varimathras. It completed, but then I got the message ""You don't meet the requirements for this quest"" when I tried to accept the follow up. I checked him afterwards and he don't give me any quests... went back to Nathanos too to be sure, no quests there either.

So after waiting close to a year to do this quest chain, I'm still bummed... gogo Blizz :P
