Akiris Reed (10)

Description

You looking fer work, <name>? I might have some if you're up for a little challenge.

I got a friend named Groy who makes a killing selling what the naga call akiris reed: it's some kind of valuable ocean reed. Not too sure what it's for, but he pays well for bundles of the stuff.

Ya bring me ten stalks of the stuff, and we'll have business to do. The naga were last seen along the beach to the north of here.

Reward

You will receive:
Scorching Sash
Also, you get: 60

Progress

If ya got no business with me, then move along, <name>.

Completion

Well done, <name>. 10 stalks of akiris reed wasn't too much a challenge after all, huh? No offense to the naga, but hey, everybody's gotta make a living.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:

The drop rate isn't low...its excrutiatingly pathetic. I got off the first few and then it took about 35 more to get a fifth...can't wait to see how many it'll take to ge the next five. If your someone who doesnt mind grinding for XP though it is great for that...

To me the droptrate seemed ok-ish too.. I didn't count but it took about 20 minutes, I didn't even have to clear the area twice.

It took me forever to do this quest, the drop rate was horrific for me. I got one every 15 Naga, literally. I think I just had bad luck, because the first time I've done this it wasn't near as bad.

my first kill, i got one. heh

drop rate should be about 40%
It was average for me.

looking in the positive side:
This is worth the time IMO
if the drop rate is low, then more xp
there are some nice loots too.

After killing 10 for the Mok'thardin's Enchantment quest, I had 4 reeds. After killing 6 more to get to the Holy Water, I had 5 reeds. Since it seemed to be about a 30% drop, I thought I'd actually finish the quest. Took me 39 kills (~25%). They aren't difficult to kill though so it wasn't as tortuous as Singing Blue Crystals. :)

This drop rate sucks, that all there is to it. It's the same as the dew quest in Taranis, the drop rate just sucks.

Killed 23 Nagas to get the 10 reeds required to complete the quest. But I recieved a good amount of experience from the quest and picked up a few items that sold well (Sniper Rifle of the Tiger &amp; Overlinked Chain Pants).

Completed as lvl 41 Prot Paladin. Easy to find. From Booty Bay, follow the tunnel that leads out to STV. After you exit the tunnel on the STV side, turn left and follow the path to the beach. You'll probably have to kill 2-3 lvl 40 humanoids on your way down the path. At the far end of the path is the beach with a wooden bridge off to your right. Run across the bridge and follow the beach around to another clearing. Kill 2-3 more lvl 40 humanoids and continue following the beach. You'll see the nagas up ahead and to your right, in the grassy hills. They are all level 43-44 and hit relatively hard but will run when low on health so be sure to use any ability you have to keep them from fleeing. The drop rate was not too bad. I cleared all of them all the way down to the far end of the beach and then again on the way back out and that gave me all ten akiris weeds I needed. None of them dropped any weapons/armor or greens.

Not sure if for some reason wow hates me or if its bugged just for me but for some reason I got to 8 bundles reasonably quickly then its just stopped. Haven't had another bundle drop for about the last hour of naga grinding...

Just finished quest
After reading all the above post i was going to drop it. Then decided i would check it out, the drop rate was about 1 out of 3 for me and took aprox. 12 min to comp. Not bad for 5300 exp. I think sometimes we want them to be too quick and easy and when there not we forget that you somtimes have to work a bit. At least try it.

They definetly buffed this recently. I remember this was evil on my Warlock and Shaman, but doing it on my Priest it was a breeze.

I think the drop rate has improved, around 25% I think. Ran the whole beach around 3x up and down.

Great as a 40 shaman. Go get the reeds, hearth to BB, turn in and get followup, take the boat, waterwalk down to Theramore, then hearth back to BB again. Takes only a few minutes.

Their is a website where you can watch cheese age. Much more exciting than doing this quest. Cleared 4 times before my 10th drop. Only saving grace is a Naga dropped a blue trinket and the chest reset 3 times although nothing good in it/

Seems the droprate on the levs 44 is much higher then the 43, so stick to the 44's
