Description

In ancient times, trolls fought against the Arathorian Empire and our most capable adversary, Lord Ignaeus of Strom, named Trollbane. He rode into battle wielding Trol'kalar--troll slayer, in their ancient tongue.

But now the sons of Trollbane are weakened, their stronghold brought to ruin.

The sword is protected by several sigils that were divided among the survivors of Stromgarde, and we must retrieve them.

The first was taken by the Syndicate, one of their men in Stromgarde should have it.

Have you located the first sigil yet? It is most likely carried on the person of one of the Syndicate agents in Stromgarde.

Excellent, mon. That's a good start to collecting the sigils we'll need to remove Trol'kalar from Trollbane's tomb.

Solo as level 36 Hunter. Got the Sigil on the 8th kill. It dropped off of a Male Rogue.

For the Hunters: Turn on Detect Hidden. Go in the entrance to Stromgarde, there will be a bridge that goes over your head, just past that is an intersection with a Syndicate Warlock and Voidwalker to the left. You want to avoid that area as there are a number of stealthed rogues in that area. If you aggro one, they all come. Pop a flare in the intersection and pick off the lone rogues that are in the intersection. They are level 37 Elites so Rapid Fire helps if it's available. Make your way up the RIGHT side of the road, through the intersection until just before you get to the top of the incline. If you go up the left side you will aggro a the same bunch near the warlock. You should see two stealthed rogues hiding at the top of the hill behind the walls just to the left and right of the road. Take them one at a time. I just went back and forth on this road killing respawns until the Sigil dropped. Elapsed time about 15 minutes.

I'm doing this quest as I type, been here a long time and so far no drop, if you want to do some grinding, then grab this quest and knock yourself out.

Can't really say anything new to this: you just need some luck. It took me around 5 kills.

Watch out for Ally players btw, they tend to hang around quite often. And the Stromgarde Calvalry guys, three lvl 37 mobs.

First kill as well, I would say that in a patch; 2.3.2 judging by the comments, they improved the drop rate.

Make sure you are killing the Syndicate guys, I killed probably 20 of the Stormgarde Defenders with no luck then dropped one Syndicate Thief and found it.

got the item on my second day of farming... ground for about an hour last night and got it first kill today.
be ready for some farming, but don't give up. the grind is some good xp, especcially if your rested, and the rest of the chain is good as well.

The sigil of Strom drops off of the Syndicate guys at Stromgard Keep (26,59). When you enter the Keep take your first left and start killing as you move down that lane. As soon as I entered stromgarde I turned left and found a syndicate theif. Killed him once no drop went back, killed him again and he dropped.
