Description

Within the beginning tunnels of Blackfathom Deeps, large sapphire clusters can be found along the cave walls. Recently it was noted that the naga were harvesting the crystals. Until it can be discerned why, I sense we should stop the naga from succeeding. The crystals have great elemental power and if used inappropriately, could make for a powerful arcane component.

Will you help me, <name>? Blackfathom Deeps can be found along Zoram Strand to the north of our outpost.

These are pulled from the blue crystals that appear in the tunnels leading up to the instance, not inside the instance itself. They respawn quicker than the monsters do, so if you (or a group headed for the instance) can clear a small area, you can harvest multiple crystals.

If you're a stealther, you can sneak past the first elites, then go to the pool of water to the left. At 43.8, 34.8, there's an unguarded crystal node.

These nodes also yield multiple crystals each time. Harvesting 6 nodes got me 22 crystals.

When I was in the eerie underground tunnels, battling off monsters while shell creatures scrambled over the ground, it suddenly hit me that this place reminded me of The Dark Crystal. It involves collecting crystals too, which for me really makes this quest a subtle tip-of-the-hat to the Jim Henson film. It's the sound and atmosphere that strike me the most.
