Description

So our good King would like a memorial built in honor of a soldier named Sully Balloo? And you say the poor chap died during the Thandol Span tragedy?

Bah, will there ever be peace on Azeroth?

Nonetheless, any commission from the King is of utmost importance. To build a truly epic and lasting piece I want to work with one of the finest stones available. Travel to Darrow Hill in Hillsbrad and gather for me some Alterac Granite.

You have to enter a cave in Hillsbrad Foothills: 46.32

The Yetis there respawn quickly, but so does the granite, which is good because there aren't many spawns of it.

There were only about 3 spawns of the granite down at the bottom of the cave. (The open part, not the two side rooms below.) They came back quickly though while I killed the yetis around them.

For any miners, the Alterac Granite WILL show on your map, along with any other ore in the cave. (Iron usually, with occasional mithril and truesilver deposits.)

Pretty easy quest chain that gives good Ironforge rep for those who are looking. :3

go up the road leading away from Southshore. At the intersection continue to go north. The cave is in Darrow's Hill.

When you turn this quest in, don't leave. He's going to have a follow-up, but he goes downstairs first, and makes the tribute. 8D

This quest made me feel really good, knowing that I was making a difference to a dwarf widow and the King of Ironforge.

it seems that with the downgrading of Hillsbrad Foothills due to the Shattering, they have also removed the Alterac Granite. If this quest is still valid, it needs to be reverified.
