Baron Aquanis

Bring the Strange Water Globe to Je'neu Sancrea at Zoram'gar Outpost, Ashenvale.
Strange Water Globe
Provided Item:
Strange Water Globe

Description

The defeated water elemental has left behind a strange water globe. You surmise that the object somehow fed the beast energy. Inside the globe, a putrid-looking form of water sloshes about. The globe itself seems impervious to any sort of physical force.

If anyone can make any sense of this item, it would be Je'neu Sancrea of the Earthen Ring. He is located at the Horde's Zoram'gar Outpost in Ashenvale.

Reward

You can choose one of these awards:
Outlaw Sabre
Witch's Finger

Progress

Ah, hello again <name>. I was just reading the waves the sea, much like I always do. What brings you to the outpost?

Completion

This... this is quite the find, <name>.

You acquired this from Baron Aquanis in Blackfathom, you say? Baron Aquanis has long been thought of as a corrupted elemental power; this globe will prove what exactly had corrupted him. While it would be no surprise if it turned out to be the Twilight's Hammer, our studies will also show how they did it as well.

You did well in bringing this to me. Please - take this, along with the Earthen Ring's warmest regards.

Very good rewards for a fairly simple quest. All you have to do is kill Baron and he ALWAYS drops Strange Water Globe.

just got 500 rep with darkspeer, not 350 as indicated.

i think yjust increased it with 2.3 as they did the low-level-experience-change. wintersaber-rep-grinding in winterfall already was increased rep, so i asume an general buff of reputation through quests

turn this inside BFD instance, at the start, like every other instance when you first go in.

If you are trying to complete every quest, do not complete the Amongst the Ruins quest at level 20. Wait until level 21 to loot the Fathom Core. If you are level 20 when Baron Aquanis spawns, he will not drop the Strange Water Globe for you that begins the Baron Aquanis quest.

Regardless of how you missed the Baron Aquanis quest the first time (whether you were level 20, as described above, or you forgot to loot it), you will need to join a new party and have someone else complete Amongst the Ruins in order to get Baron Aquanis to spawn. You can then loot the Strange Water Globe as normal.

Is this still a valid quest or is it pre-cata expansion? Or is it a Horde only quest? I just ran through this dungeon with a group at lvl 23 and did not get this quest. The rest of the group was 23-25 so I don't think were weren't eligible or something to get it.

This quest is still available post-Cataclysm. It works just like it did before: loot the Fathom Core, trigger Baron Aquanis spawning, kill him, loot the sphere (supposedly only available to level 21+, I didn't have a lower level character to test).

What *is* particularly odd about this quest is that the XP reward (3650, unadjusted for bonuses) is totally disproportionate to other quests of a similar level. The other quests in BFD each give less than half the amount of experience as this one (1600-1700 for most of them).

With a Recruit-A-Friend bonus, this is approximately one full level worth of XP (level 24 is about 21K). If you're turning in all the other dungeon quests at the same time, you can easily get two levels for four clicks, on top of whatever you got for clearing the dungeon. Quite a deal.

Confirmed that the item which starts the quest drops for character at level 20.
