Tremors of the Earth

Retrieve the Sign of the Earth for Garek.
Sign of the Earth

Description

I heard from Sigrun that you have been a great help to him. Perhaps I might enlist your help. I was sent here by my master, Krasus of the Kirin Tor, to put an end to the trouble brewing in Lethlor Ravine.

I cannot divulge the exact nature of my assignment here or the tasks that I must undertake, but be assured it is of vital importance.

A band of wandering ogres, sometimes seen near Camp Boff, stole an object called the Sign of the Earth; I must have it. Bring it to me, and I will tell you more.

Progress

The nomadic band of ogres travels between their camps across the Badlands; heat rising from the dry earth and the swirling winds will make it difficult to track their progress. I have heard that sometimes they travel through Camp Boff. If you are lost, you might try your search there.

Completion

Good tidings you bring bearing the Sign, <name>. The Sign of the Earth was created by the Dark Iron dwarves of Angor Fortress to bind two of Deathwing's ruthless lieutenants, the twins Blacklash and Hematus.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 360 experience (21 60 at max. level)
  • 250 Reputation with Stormwind

Sign of the Earth drops from Boss Tho'grun who is part of that ogre pat that paths around Badlands. If you can't find him, he spawns around 62,66.

He can spawn with 5 other orge sidekicks. If you wish to solo this, simply wait until they start moving out of camp. The boss will probably lag behind the rest; that's when you want to sneak up to draw his aggro. You may end up with one or two more adds but that is better than facing all six of them.

If you can't activate this quest from Garek, it's most probably because you haven't completed Sigrun's Mirages quest

Pretty simple to solo, get your timing right and you can pull just Boss Tho'Grun and the mystic on their own.

Incredibly easy as a rogue. I did this at 43. All you have to do is wait for them to start moving and start sapping a few of the guards to get the order mixed around, otherwise the guards will stop when you sap the Boss. After a little bit of sapping them (I think you need to sap them all for this to work), then just sap the Boss and wait until the guards keep walking on then just fight him 1 on 1.

Everything is so easy since 2.3. Questing is almost fun. I did this as a 41 Rogue. Ironically I'd been killing the guy for fun by picking off his entourage before I picked up the quest. Just as described earlier just sap the laggers. I like to sap them, wait for the entourage to move up a bit, then kill the sapped guy. For some reason it gives me a kick to see the group apparently unaware that their numbers are magically diminishing.

Sloppily solo'd this as a lvl43 enh shammy. Waited at the spawn point, got behind them when they started moving off, shocked the mystic, which pulled the boss and one guard. Stoneclaw totem, grounding totem, nuked the boss down, looted, then popped ghostwolf and legged it. Simple, but effective!

As a paladin, mounted, I runned over them, then aggroed everyone. I didn't stop, and when I had some distance, I returned and casted repentance on Tho'grun. So, I runned until leave combat and returned to Tho'grun, who had not evaded yet. So easy :)

I found Tho'grun and his mob at Camp Murg - 27. 59. since i couldnt find them anywhere else.
Being a Druid, I waited for the mob to move and I rooted Tho'grun's little mob and it aggroed just one mob. Beat them both, then chased Tho'grun's mob once again.

Tho'grun is a lot slower than the rest of the group, so after slaying the two mobs mentioned earlier, I just rooted Tho'grun and finished the quest.

Hope this helps

Hail to the Night!

The ""Krasus of the Kirin Tor"" mentioned in the quest is referring to Korialstrasz the red dragon. He appears in several Warcraft novels such as the ""War of the Ancients"" trilogy and ""Day of the Dragon"", and he is going to appear in Wrath of the Lich King as well.

Before i started this quest, i managed to solo the whole group (lvl 43 pally). Fairly simple enough, target the leader first and hit him with exorcism/consecration while attacking and move your way round the group. I had to use lay on hands when i got down to about 400hp and finished off the rest.

After reading the quest I decided to sit around Camp Boff for a bit waiting for him to 'sometimes show up'. After 20 minutes it dawned on me that he isn't a big fan of Camp Boff, so I drove round a bit looking for him. Just as my patience was wearing thin, I finally found Boss Tho'grun at Camp Cragg. I think Galek was reading his map upside down. Should've gone to Specsavers tbh.
