to get the onyxia scale cloak pattern you actually have to get the onyxia head and start the quest; once you start the quest you go to stormwind and turn it in; then after you turn it in you will get another quest called ""the journey has just begun"" and he will train you the cloak.

I'm wondering how to re-obtain this pattern after dropping LW and picking it back up. Is it even possible to aquire this pattern again if you've already done the quest?

I just wanted to confirm that https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=14394 Major Mattingly still gives this quest, after turning in the head of the new-improved level 80 Onyxia. Did the head quest for the first time on my rogue at level 80 and was able to pick up the cloak pattern just fine.

To anyone who is interested in getting the Onyxia Scale Cloak pattern, yes this quest is still available as of 4.3. I just got the quest and received the pattern as a auto learned deal.
