Probably not likely to happen to many people now adays, but if you use an addon such as EveryQuest to keep track of what you have and haven't done, you may find that on some servers which were released after the original patching of these old epic mount quests, that when you hover over https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7675 Icy Blue Mechanostrider Replacement or https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7676 White Mechanostrider Replacement within the mod, or try to change it's completed status, you will get disconnected from the server for trying to query something that has never been seen on that server before.

Once patch 1.4 went live, this quest was added into the game so players with the non-armored mounts could exchange their un-armored mount for an armored one.
Players who still have the non-armored mounts should still be able to access and complete this quest, thereby receiving an armored mount.
Some people prefer to keep the old, un-armored versions, though, as a sign of their early acquisition and success - as a status symbol.
There are matching quests for all factions except Draenei and Blood Elves.
