What the Flux?

Somewhere in the Slag Pit of the Cauldron you will find the Secret Plans: Fiery Flux that Overseer Maltorius stole. Find those plans and return them to Master Smith Burninate in the Searing Gorge.
Secret Plans: Fiery Flux

Description

When that bastard, Maltorius, left our clan, he left with something more valuable than a pristine arcane crystal: Our recipe for fiery flux! I'd bet anything that the recipe was part of the deal in his new promotion amongst the Dark Irons.

I want you to get our secret plans back, <name>. I'm sure they're somewhere near Maltorius, deep inside the Slag Pit.

Reward

Also, you get: 75

Did you find the plans?

Completion

I hope you kicked his teeth in too, <name>. Ragnaros knows, he deserved it.

Now we can get down to business.

If you just want to dash in and get the scroll, then take off, you might have some ways of dealing with the elites, depending on your class.

Priests can use psychic scream

Warriors can use intimidating shout

Mages, depending on how good your timing is, might be able to get away with using frost nova

Hunters and Warlocks may be able to get away with distracting the mobs with their pet long enough to grab the item and make a getaway

Completing this quest will allow you to turn in various items in return for reputation with the Thorium Brotherhood, that when high enough allows you to buy various crafting recipes.

The first turn-in quests:

Restoring Fiery Flux Supplies via Heavy Leather (https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=8242 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=8242)
Restoring Fiery Flux Supplies via Iron (https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=8241 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=8241)
Restoring Fiery Flux Supplies via Kingsblood (https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7736 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7736)

The turn-in quests are level 60, and if you have problems with this quest, you can just wait until you're in your high 50's and grab the plans without aggroing the the nearby mobs, as they will be gray to you.

On the other hand, the nearby elite, Maltorius, is also a target of the quest WANTED: Overseer Maltorius (https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7701 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7701), so you might want to kill him anyway.

It is definitely recommended that you also pick up the quest to kill the Taskmasters and Slavers, which is JOB OPPORTUNITY: Culling the Competition (https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7729 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7729). You will see plenty of them along the way to the plans.

Also, I see now that it's a good idea to pick up Forging the Shaft from Kalaran Windblade. It's the second quest he gives you (the first one is pretty easy to do), and he can be found at around 39,39, just south of Thorium Point.

these, after 2.4 are no longer elite, overseer Maltorius and 1 add ( i got a 48 lookout) are guarding the scroll, easy kills,
its on a ledge above the quarry, for those without co ords, go into the slag pit, enter the quarry through a gate, follow it round and up a ramp, clear the right side and run onto the ledge :)

All right, help for those without cords:
  • Going left to right across The Cauldron on your world map, you will want to find &amp; enter the 2nd cave from the left.
  • Once in you'll cross a bridge &amp; on the far side of that bridge, along the left wall, will be a Quarry Gate.
  • Go through the Quarry Gate make a right turn then keep heading straight until you eventually find a ramp that goes up and will be along your right up against the wall.
  • Go up the ramp and stay right, you'll wind up in a huge room and see a another bridge infront of you.
  • Don't take that bridge turn to the right of it, where the end of the huge room is &amp; tada! There is Overseer Maltorius guarding the Secret Plans: Fiery Flux.

I hope this information was useful to someone! :D

Easiest way:

1. Look at where it says ""The Cauldron"" on your map and go to where you're just left of the ""C.""
2. Look down, and jump down onto the metal ramp.
3. Enter the cave closest to the ""C"" in ""The Cauldron"" on your map.
4. Cross the bridge and take the entrance to the left. The plans are on the table behind the two mobs.

If you need to farm Incendosaur Scales you can also do this here:

5. Turn around, backtrack across the bridge, and drop down onto the path to left (NE) of the bridge.
6. You will see a trail of wrenches and bones. Follow them to find the Incendosaur nest.
7. To get back out head south/southwest until you come across a metal bridge structure, and take the exit to its left.

Honestly this is a prime example of how Blizzard does crap without thinking ahead.

At the very least when they took this quest out they needed to make Dark Iron Residue a grey item and increase the value of this to offset the time we spent farming it.

&lt;Shakes fist at Blizzard&gt;!

Yes, the quest was removed. You now need to do a quest chain to access turning in Dark Iron Res for Thorium Bro rep. I did the chain in 2 hours with my lvl 68 DK just to get the friendly status to buy recipes in BRD and I just achieved Exalted status today. So DI Residue is still worth something. I just wish Dark Iron ORE was easier to acquire.
