The residue only drops from mobs in BRD, but if nobody else in your group is running for Thorium B rep, then you can amass a large amount of this stuff in no time at all.

On Black Dragonflight server it sells in AH for a little over 1s per residue.

....yes saving 10 stacks is a pain in the arse, especially if you are tight on bank space.

Just got to 0/12000 Honored a minute ago. I just wanted to come here and tell you guys that it took me about 5 minutes and 42 seconds to spam the npc for returning these. Here's how to do it if you have all the 960 (as mentioned above) residues:

1. Get an addon that has an ""auto-complete quest"" feature (you just need to click the quest name and it clicks ""Complete quest"" for you automatically).
2. Zoom your camera all the way in to 1st person view (could be done without zooming if postioned right I guess, but I did it like this).
3. Walk next to the NPC and position the camera right, so you can click both the NPC and the quest name in the gossip window without moving your mouse.
4. Right-click the NPC so the gossip window opens, then left-click the quest name and the addon completes it for you.
5. Repeat step 4 unti Honored. :)

Hope this helps someone doing this silly thing faster. I think they really should fine-tune the quest a bit and make the amount of residue delivered at once larger, but meh... doubt they ever will.

This is what I have to use, wish there was some way to initiate the chat though...but still helps.

Right Click to talk, then macro, right click, macro....

I see no mention of the X100 residue option. I'm assuming it is new with the patch but basically it reads like the old quest but you can drop 100 residue at a time for 625 rep. Seems there is no rep penalty for turning in by stacks of 100 instead of by stacks of 4.

Thanks Blizz, for updating that quest!

If there is some prequalifiing information i left out, please add to this post, but it seems that this option has just showed up in the last few days so i figure it was a patch update.

Just confirmed that you can turn 4 dark iron residue in or 100 dark iron residue. Additionally, it is repeatable until max exalted. I did not see the quests show up however until I finish the chain that ended with the quest: ""From Whence he came"". Once that quest was turned in it gave the follow up quest ""Welcome to the brotherhood"". Master Smith Burninate is the one who has the quest btw.

i just went from about 6k revered to exalted, and it only cost me maybe 100g tops to buy off the AH.

only thing is, is there any point to getting exalted with this faction anymore, other then for the achievements to have exalted status with ""x"" factions?

The quest giver won't show this quest until you complete Searing Gorge quests which ends with ""Welcome to the Brotherhood"". Then you can turn in Dark Iron Residue again.

The quests alone give nice rep & you can turn in Residue through Revered now which saves from running into BRD if you got residue already

@ 4.0.3, this quest becomes available after you've completed ""Welcome to the Brotherhood"" (https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=28064"">(Quest #28064)) For that, you have to complete alot of quests, and you will (most likely) get the ""Searing Gorge Quests"" -achievement at the same time.

I didn't notice these quests until I had finished Searing Gorge Quests (loremaster) and given am at 11475/21000, so it must be repeatable until exalted.

As a human who is in a guild with Mr. Popularity (10%) I got 1800 rep for each turn in of 100 residue. A stack of 100 on my server cost me about 80s each.

These quests are not available once Exalted. Suppose, like me, you are pathological about filling up your rep bar. If you are close to 21000, do not make the mistake of scrimping and turning in 4 at a time! You appear to get the full reward for whatever you turn in, but 4 at a time will leave you with a nearly empty bar when the quest goes away.

Once you're up above 20500/21000 (or even sooner if you have rep bonuses), just do a stack of 100 and whammo.

Fortunately, if you blow it (like I did) you can still turn in items at the Grim Guzzler, including https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=11370"">(Item #11370) which drops from some of the construct mobs in https://vanillawowdb.com/?zone=1584"">Blackrock Depths.

If you happen to have a level appropriate character for this repeatable quest it will be a decent way to gain guild XP as of patch 5.0.4. Right now every quest you turn in will give 60k guild XP, including repeatable quests, and usually you can find stacks of these on the AH for pretty cheap.
