Glyph Chasing

Rutgar Glyphshaper at Bronzebeard's Encampment in Silithus wants you to venture to Hive'Ashi, Hive'Zora, and Hive'Regal and recover Glyphed Rubbings from the Glyphed Crystals of each hive.

Use the Geologist's Transcription Kit to make a reasonable facsimile of the ancient glyphs. Return to Rutgar Glyphshaper when you complete this task.

Description

After our initial foray into the hives and Mistress Mar'alith's subsequent madness the three hives have been spewing out bugs! The increased activity might be tied into the glyphs covering those strange crystals.

We must get a rubbing from crystals in all three hives. If we can get those rubbings, we might be able to make sense of this madness.

Take this transcription set and hit those hives, <name>. Don't come back until you've gotten copies from each hive.

If you find some crazy night elf lass in one of the hives, be sure to give her a kick in the duff for us.

I can't make heads or tails of these glyphs. I've never seen anything like it! I hope Frankal's research can shed some light on this mess.

It would also be good to note, that the wasps will aggro in large packs. They have a powerful poison that does stack, so if you don't have a way of dispelling the poison or healing through it, I wouldn't suggest coming here alone, unless you can avoid getting hit all together.

The wasp packs in Hive Zora are pretty tough, I attribute this to being because these mobs weren't elite before 2.3, and tuned to be about as difficult as a solo elite before, so they remain at that difficulty even after 2.3.

Beware that the one in Hive Zora is very hard.
The glyph is surrounded by three groups, each consists of 3-5 wasps and cannot be pulled alone. Their poison stucks and is deadly.
If you are level 60+, I guess you need only to kill the group of 3 near the entrance of the room, like what I did. Then approach the glyph and click it from as far as you can. The other groups seems to be quite far away from it. Don't bother killing them, it will make this quest much more harder.

The swarm of bugs is easily dispatched, it's Natalia herself I had the most difficulty with.
Natalia is level 62 and uses charm, fear and she heals herself. You have to get her to use all her mana before you even have a chance. Even then she can heal herself and charm you with very little.

First thing is to clear the room surrounding her. One by one pick off the bugs. I then sent my VW at her to keep her busy while I moved to the very edge of my spell range. Any closer and she charmed and feared me....oh, so annoying. Once her mana was down I kept draining it because she seems to be able to do a lot with very little. Keep your distance and keep firing and cursing. After three tries she went down....and dropped nothing. Ugh.

This is completely wrong, since that is at Hive'Regal. You do want to go to 48,24 as indicated.

It's not just carbonite that shows the wrong location. The official quest tracker also shows the wrong location. I spent 30 minutes in the wrong hole, beware :)

Are you sure it isn't just the weird quest objective grouping thing the new quest tracker does? I've been sent back to areas where I've already completed a part of the quest because it didn't differentiate between collect these widgets in one place and gadgets in another.

Used mind vision to see mobs position.

Just one mob between the clyph and the entrance. The other ones are behind the glyph. Easy Kills.

Did this today and its the most annoying q ive ever done. I guess Blizz keeps changing the locations just for the fak of it.

This is what i found:

Hive Ashi:
entrance at 52,25. go all the way to the bottom enter and keep right
glyph at 54,25.

Hive Zora:
entrance at 34,59
glyph at 42,57 look out for the groups of wasps

Hive Regal
entrance at 58,78
glyph at 55,90

For those without coords it should be noted that there are also two entrances to hive Regal; one is large with spiraling ramp, located in the eastern area and the other PROPER one is small and easy to miss (I stood atop it scratching my head for awhile before noticing it!) to the southern area of the hive. Natalia was a breeze for this 58 hunter, but she did mind-control me to shoot my pet (I'll be paying for THAT for a long time, I fear) and also will protect and heal the mobs near her as well as herself.

I did this as a lvl 56 warlock, and the only thing I found hard was the wasps. Just be really careful and you'll get the glyph without having to pull more than 1 mob :)

According to a buddy with the most recent Carbonite(4.34) who came along when I was about to lose my mind...

If you're heading to the big Hive'Zora area on the map... don't. The best ""entrance"" is the most immediate little pink thing s.e. (bottom right) of it..

Yeah, the final room at Zora is pretty tough. The first group of 5 nearly killed me (lvl 57 frost mage) with one healing potion used - ice barrier didn't last long and Blizzard took out a couple as well. CoC bought a little time and let the water ellie hit them. When we had the first batch down, my health was down to about 300. After healing up and letting mana recharge we had one more group of 3 mobs near the glyph which wasn't a big deal compared to the melee with 5. But we made it, and it was a fun fight. :-)

THIS IS WRONG! Entrance to Hive Regal is 58,78. After searching forever trying to find a way into the mountains, which is where 55,87 is located, finally went to the quest write-up on ""Into the Maw..."" to see what they said, since Natalie is at the glyph. Thank God!

Found the following comment there...<div class=""quote"">The cave entrance is at 58,78. It is part of Hive'Regal.

Natalie herself is as far south in as you can go. It's a long, linear, winding hive cave unlike the others. She is at 55,90.

Make sure to get Hive'Regal's glyph, which she is staring at, for the Glyph Chasing quest.then saw comment below by Gopem<div class=""quote"">As of Patch 4.0.3a Locations to openings are:

I see nobody mentioned it, but since patch you only need to do 1 hive - regal, same place where you do Into the Maw of Madness (should be the hardest)

Did it just while leveling rogue (and I did it old way when I was going after loremaster title with my main).

Then where is the entrance? Should be on the mountains according to your coordinates, but cannot reach it.
It is not in the other cave further to the east.

The entrance is realy at 52.0 24.0The crystal is actualy at 54.7 26.0 inside and there are a few bugs there to terminate. hope this helps

A lot of confusing info here. There are three entrances to Hive'Regal: SW, SE and E. You want the SW entrance. Then go as far south in there as you can. Done.

Coordinates listed are right! 55:90 for the Southern Hive. The glyph is next to Natalia, so after you kill mob & her (for quest) you may as well pick up the glyph.
