Everyone eligible in the raid can pick up the quest. However, I ran BWL yesterday and yes, it still only drops one shard per raid. This means everyone else who got the quest will need to abandon it and try again after the Tuesday reset.

The five hours countdown seems only to run while you're inside the instance. We started a raid and cleared up to Lashlayer. Having no https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=15138 Onyxia Scale Cloaks, we decided to return later that week for the rest when our guild's leatherworker with the cloaks in her bank would be able to attend and so we killed Nefarian about 5 days after Vaelastrasz but our shaman was able to loot the shard anyway. Pleasant surprise on a run where only https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=18562 Elementium Ore was expected.

Can`t do this quest at taiwan server. Other quest still work, but only Nefarius's Corruption can`t. When I talk to Vaelastrasz can`t see the quest option.
Or this quest only can work when player clear the other quest(Green Scepter Shard and Blue Scepter Shard)? Is anyone have the same problem?

I cant acquire this quest on a US realm either. My current theory is that running out after Razoregore to get the adds to stop spawning is jiggering with some mechanic, making him take the quest away. Second week in a row i've been denied my red shard >_<

It won't be long now.If you've found others, please share them, as finding a raid that is willing to wait 5 hours just so you can fail a quest and read the text is kind of rare.

quest is not activating for me, neither before, nor after soft resetting to stop the adds spawning.

Can anyone confirm that they have successfully obtained this quest post-4.0.1?

I just obtained this quest today, EU server.

Just had a GM confirm that:

1. the quest is still available
2. it does not have any prerequisite other that the quest chain is completed up to and including ""Charge of the dragonflights""
3. It is working correctly.

So here is to hoping that it works for me next ID.

Can anybody confirm if the red scepter shard actually drops post 4.0.1? I have received my second ticket answer which like the first states that ""this quest has been disabled by development, and is slated to be removed. We will not be awarding this quest item."" This concerns me a lot since I have come so far on the scepter of the shifting sands questline and there have been no public announcements on this quest being removed or altered in any way!

I also had problems with this quest last week, picked up the quest and killed nefarian. No shard dropped, I contacted a GM. And he also mentioned that the quest was removed from the game, I was trying to get a new GM but I gave up after 4 days of waiting.

Also had mobs from razorgore encounter keep respawning if anyone where close to the gate.

Hopefully the next reset i will get it done.

Those who are complaining that your shards aren't dropping: If you're SURE no one else looted it...

Some of these quest items insist that the person the corpse is assigned to checks the corpse before it shows up on the loot table for everyone else. That is, say you're trioing it, and when you kill Nef, it says ""Loot: PlayerC."" It's waiting for PlayerC to check the corpse first, just incase PlayerC has the quest. Once PlayerC checks the corpse, the shard should appear for PlayerA or PlayerB to loot--whoever gets there first.

This happened with Onyxia's chapter of Draconic for Dummies, so it's possible this is the same since the same quest team would've designed it around the same time.

If you are having trouble accepting the quest, ticket a GM and request that they check your quest log (i.e. the list of your completed quests). A GM told me that according to his database I had completed the quest ""a long time ago, too far back for him to tell me the exact date"" (verbatim translation). It could be that the quest was flagged as completed for you when you first killed nefarian with the quest requirements fulfilled.
