Description

Ah, you're in need of my latest project... the extra-dimensional ghost revealer! Unfortunately I've run out of funds and manpower.

You're willing to help? Excellent! Our first task is to build a device to harvest the very fabric of death! Building an ectoplasmic distiller won't be an easy task, <name>.

I'll need you to bring me an arcanite converter, some greater eternal essences and stonescale oil. I'll also need some volcanic ash from the lava pools in the Burning Steppes to build a filter.

If you happen to have a https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=37863 Direbrew's Remote, a short run out of BRD will save you quite a bit of time on the long trip to Burning Steppes, and the quest items you need there on this chain are right outside BRM.

Well, for those thinking ""Oh, damn, what else they could rob me for?""... here's a comprehensive list of buyable/craftable/other way obtainable goods you can collect ahead of time (and better you will!) to complete this questline in a whole.

The Ectoplasmic Distiller:
  • Delicate Arcanite Converter (Engineering, Arcanite Bar - Alchemy (For that - a Thorium Bar and an Arcane Crystal you need), Ironweb Spider Silk)
  • Greater Eternal Essence (4)
  • Stonescale Oil (10) (Alchemy, Stonescale Eel (10) - Fishing)
A Shifty Merchant:
  • Fel Elemental Rod (Purchasable from imp in a cave in Darkwhisper Gorge, south Winterspring... inbetween TONS OF ELITE DEMONS (You've been warned...))
Anthion's Strange Request:
  • Dark Iron Bar (3) (Mining, Dark Iron Ore (24) smelted at Black Forge in Blackrock Depths by a PRO Miner worth their salt)
  • Enchanted Leather (20) (Enchanting, Rugged Leather (20) - Skinning, Lesser Eternal Essence (20) or Greater Eternal Essence (7))

What I hate most about quests like these is that you are depending on what people put in the AH.
The essence was easy to find, all other stuff was simply not put in the list and if that happens you can basically NOT perform this quest at all, unless you want to spend an eternity learning the required profesions (as Alchemy and Engineering is not the most suitable combo on one char)

Solve the questline up to this quest (including this one) to get the https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=4388 Discombobulator Ray from the https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=22320 quest reward! Use it only when you need it thou, for example only to slow the enemy flag carrier.
