Samophlange

Close off the Fuel Control Valve, the Regulator Valve and the Main Control Valve then use the control console again.
  •
Shut off Main Control Valve
  •
Shut off Fuel Control Valve
  •
Shut off Regulator Valve

Description

The three control valves are currently opened. The various readings on the control panel lead you to presume that they must be shut off before the apparatus can be shut off.

Progress

Blinking lights on the control console indicate that the main control valves have not been closed off.

Completion

The lights indicating the three control valves dim as they are shut off. Green lights slowly fade into yellow, and the switch controlling the apparatus is now moveable, with the valves closed, it can be turned off.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 61.25 experience (2 94 at max. level)
  • 75 Reputation with Ratchet

The valves are at coordinates: 52x,11y in The Barrens. The respawn rate of the mobs near the valves I swear to god is less than 3 min so dont make the same mistake I did and start doin the valves after you do the control panel, or you will get respawned on and ass raped by a orc, 3 goblins, and a dwarf.... fun fun!

The controls are really as to find, just go from left to right, getting all three wheels.

As said before, always keep a look out on the respawns, there's a good 5-6 of them that are in aggro range around the controls, so be sure you're in the clear before you start doing the valves.

Quest is fun but if you want to do it at lvl 14 and you are not a hunter, then you could use 1 more to help you. Spawn as mentioned above is crazy.

Actually, two mobs will spawn in reaction to your using the last valve (regardless of what order you use them in). The normal mobs in the area are aggro-tied to the valves if they (the mobs) happen to wander too close while you are using them. This is the same behavior as mobs near a chest in the wild.

I had quite a hard time doing this because of the quick spawnrate. Also, you summon 2 15's when you shut one of the things off...

I think part of what makes it seem that the resets are so fast is that several of the shutdown steps spawn mobs; if you know they're coming, it makes it easier.

This is a difficult quest if you don't have some kind of CC. Mobs run away at 30% health, which is often too high to do get them down to zero before they pull 1-2 more mobs. Might want to enlist a friend from help unless you have some easy way to deal with adds, runners, and the quick respawn rate.

Mages and Hunters have the easiest time, what with Conc Shot for Hunters, Ice Nova and Sheep for Mages.

https://vanillawowdb.com/?object=61936 This is the object you are looking for in this quest. There is a map, too, click it to enlarge if you want to.

There are 2 https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=3284 mobs ""guarding"" the valve, you need to get rid of them. Sheep/Sap/https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=4941 Really Sticky Glue or something you think would work the best. I think the https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=4941 Glue is a good choice, since you would have gotten it earlier if you https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=818 quested at Sen'jin Village, https://vanillawowdb.com/?zone=14 Durotar.

These mobs guarding it will run away at ~30% health, you have to either burst them to death or stop them. A warrior can https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=1715 Hamstring, a mage can https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=122 Frost Nova, a hunter can use https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=5116 Concussive Shot, a druid can use https://vanillawowdb.com/?spell=339 Entangling Roots and so on, you can easily run away from them if the situation gets too hard.

In order to do this quest and it's follow up as a level 12 rogue, I had to resort to a lot of corpse running and hit & run tactics. However, due the the convenient proximity of a graveyard to the general area of the control console, it shouldn't take very long for anyone to do it, even using the tactics i used.
