Description

There is a malevolence growing in the timberlings. We are trying to find the source, but until we do...in order to keep Teldrassil safe we must cut down the timberlings who are beyond help. Those that wander Wellspring Lake in northern Teldrassil are the most tainted. They must be removed!

Destroy the Timberlings you find there, and gather the mossy tumors growing upon them. Bring the tumors to me so that they may be burned.

Have you been to Wellspring Lake, <name>? Have you been hunting the timberlings there?

Completion

Well done! These tumors are the symptom of the timberling's disease. They are filled with a poison that we must cleanse from our new land.

This is the lake with southern point at 42,42. Drop rate is decent maybe 30% or so.

Location is good. However, the yellow ones were 100% drop rate for me, and I didn't get any off of the blue ones.

The last thing you need to worry about is getting surprised by one of these guys. They move slowly and the respawn time is long.
Since you get this quest at such a low level you can use the lull between killing these guys to kill spiders, sabres, and owls. I actually leveled waiting for them to respawn.

42, 42 is correct, and the surrounding area...iit took me 7 kills to get my 5 moss tumors, i was pleased

At 43, 34 (43.36 34.15 for those with very accurate co-ordinates), Wellspring Lake, I killed five Timberling Mire Beasts ( https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=2029 https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=2029 ) and got a 100% drop rate, so 5 from 5. A very nice ammount of xp for such an easy quest. Good luck to everyone else. =)

While doing this quest, be on the look out for the rare timberling named https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=3535 Blackmoss the Fetid. He drops https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=5179 Moss-twined Heart which begins the quest https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=927 The Moss-twined Heart.

Drop rate is horrible, around 22%. It took about 45 mins to get this done. Just grind the area while waiting for them to respawn which has furbolgs (level your tailoring / first aid with the linen cloth they drop), owls, sabers and spiders. I grinded the area 5x with a drop rate of roughly 22%.

My experience was that i had to go all the way to oakenscowl to make the thing drop the mate close to the oakenscowl drops it 54.75 (coords)

I've been working on this quest for going on 40 minutes now, I've probably commited Genocide 12 times over and I've only found 3 tumors. I've gone to all the coordinates suggested here...is this drop rate completely random or what? I'm ready to quit this quest.

This quest is yellow at level 9, so I figured hey, give it a shot. But ouuuuch, these guys hit pretty hard on a Rogue - obviously, we attack pretty fast, and their lightning shield is making it so I almost die after every mob - eh. Don't even get me started on the drop rate.

Hello everyone. I have just started playing WoW and this is my first MMO of any kind, so please be kind. I am trying to complete this quest, but when I go to pick up the mossy tumors, it won't allow me and says I need Herbalism. So I went the Herbalist trainer and became and apprentice and it still won't allow me. What am I doing wrong?
