This q does count for loremaster archievement

This guy is in a pretty remote area so I found him my last 2 times leveling in the night elf areas. You get an item that summons an npc guardian from the quest. He's a n equal level timberling npc and I found two quests in darkshore he could be very useful on for a lowbie night elf. The mushroom quest has you fight 3 16-18 mobs, and I used him on this one. He was a pretty effective and tanked 1 guy until I had the other 2 down. The Wanted: Murkdeep quest also pits you against 3 mobs at one time, so he could be used there as well to the same effect.

The item that starts the quest can be looted by all members of your party.

This quest does not exist anymore. Blackmoss the Fetid still exists as a level 8 rare mob however. Killing him will not drop the required quest item needed to do it.

Therefor https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=941 Planting the Heart is taken out of the game also.

I was unable to get the heart from Blackmoss; however, I had already done the quest prior to Cataclysm. Perhaps a new character can still do it?

I just got the heart and was able to do the quest, on a character that had done the quest years ago.

Character is a night elf (if that matters) and I have been able to do all post-Shattering Teldrassil quests with him even though I'd done all the old ones.

I was able to do this quest on a newly created Night Elf so it's definitely still available. I even got my heart on the first kill. :)

I got this quest today (Patch 4.2) on my level 24 Night Elf priest. I found https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=3535 Blackmoss the Fetid on a small hill near the SW part of Lake Al'Ameth (52,63). He did drop the heart and I was able to turn it in to Denalan. (Remember, if you have already completed most of the quests in the area, he will have moved to his new location at Wellspring Hovel (44,44.3), which is off the road south of the Oracle Glade.)

Also worth mentioning, in the follow-up quest https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=941 Planting the Heart, I was NOT able to plant the seed in the planter behind Denalan at his Wellspring Hovel location...I had to go to the planter on the East side of Lake Al'Ameth where Denalan first was (59.9,59.8).

I did this quest today. I too found him on the small hill just south west of the lake. I had to wait just 5 minutes for him to spawn. An easy kill for my lvl 38 night elf.
It does not matter if you have done all the other quests. I have completed all Teldrassil quests prior to starting this one except for the follow up quest of course. I too had to plant this in Denalan's old location, not his new location at Wellspring hovel.

Even horde can get this quest item but they won't be able to do anything with it. I just got it with my blood elf mage and it only says ""That quest is not available to your race"".
