Description

This fossil bears a striking resemblance to one I once saw in Ironforge. An archaeologist by the name of Flagongut brought it to our annual Explorers' League conference. He believed the fossil had a power which could be unlocked somehow.

Last I heard Flagongut had holed up in the Deepwater Tavern in Menethil Harbor, awaiting escort to the Whelgar Excavation Site. Seek him out and show him Remtravel's fossil. Perhaps he can reveal the secrets of the past.

The ship to Menethil departs from Auberdine.

Archaeologist Flagongut is in the Inn at Menethil Harbor, upstairs, coords 10,60.

With the rerouting of Alliance ship routes in 3.0.x this is no longer as simple a trip as before. Now, a level 20-ish character must sail to Stormwind, take the tram to Ironforge, then hoof it all the way around to Menethil. At least now you're traveling in the ""right"" direction and can pick up some extra quests along the way.

Quickest and safest way is to kindly ask a mage for a portal to Theramore, take the boat from there, and hearthstone back.

This quest counts for Loremaster of Kalimdor (even though you hand in at Menethil).
