Description

He's done it this time! Bad enough that Gelriz's muscling out the moguls who were appointed by the trade princes, now he tries to cut in on the most notorious pirate!

Revilgaz won't have it, and he's told me to take care of the problem in my own way.

My way? Theft. The Venture Co. geologists near Lake Nazferiti are deeply interested in those strange blue crystals they have been finding in the mines. Bring me samples of the stone from their geologists, I don't care what you have to do to get them.

Completion

Fascinating. That the crystals have been tumbled using this process can only indicate that they are planning to use them as some sort of fuel or other catalyst. I don't know much more than that. Samples will have to be dispatched to Head Chemist Gigglefont.

This is quit an easy quest. You can take 1 by 1 all the way. And they respawn very fast.

This quest can be done at the same time as the Goblin Sponsorship (Part 5 of the quest chain beginning with Load Lightening https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=1176 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=1176). It is worth it to do both if you care about your Booty Bay reputation, and it will save you some running to get it done all at once.

The main camp is at 43,19 but there are plenty more up and around the area.

The drop rate is about 1 in 4 or 5.

Should be done together with [37] Goblin Sponsorship as Foreman Cozzle who you need to kill is right up there.

These Venture Co. Geologists cast Lightning Bolt that deals ~140 nature damage, Quick Fire Ward, which makes them immune to fire damage for some seconds and Fire Shield II, which deals fire damage to enemies in melee range.

They also run away when they're low on HP.

You don't have to go all the way to 43, 17 to get the Tumbled Crystals - I stayed around 43, 22 and still finished the quest.

Drop rate for me was pretty much 1 for 1. 8 kills, 8 crystals.

3500xp as of 2.3. Drop rate was improved a lot on that quest. I remember doing it last year and it was aweful. Now i got my 8 in about 10 kills.

Drops from level 35-36 Venture Co. Geologist, caster mob, at 44.20. That's right of 'Lake Nazferiti' on the map. They drop 1-2 silver mostly, and sometimes some silk cloth as well.
Watch out for the patrolling Venture Co. Shredder (L37).
They also grant +5 reputation with Booty Bay.

The droprate for Silk Cloth was 35-40% for me.

Average value: 1s 68c.

It took me 14 kills for 8 crystals.

Did this quest as a lvl 34 lock, very fast, very easy and with a good reward. Droprate has indeed improved, I got the 8 crystals in 10 kills.
There is also a nice chest at 44,18 that is very easy to get to, only two mobs to kill.

I did the quest real simple, did it at a high level, but the do attack in groups some times, but the drop after 2.4 patch, it was like every other kill for me.

Go to the Venture Co camp at 42,18 and start hacking away at them and they'll drop the crystals. They should be level 35, and very high drop rate.

Forman Cozzle is at the top of the tower, kill him get his key and unlock a chest at the bottom(at 43,20) for the quest https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=1183 Goblin Sponsorship which is found at booty bay

Then you can go North and start killing the crystal gazed basilisks in the mountains for the quest https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=605 Singing Blue shards, also found in Booty Bay

Finish 3 quests at the same time!

I got at least a 80% drop rate from the geologists, so to sae time focus in them

It was and easy solo for my lvl 35 warrior. just focus on the geologists and the drop rate is about 90%

The best place to look for them is 43,20. You can only get the gems from the geologists. Near the geologists are a couple of sawmills full of goblin woodworkers. Make sure your careful and stay away from them otherwise you'll get mobs of 6 all over you.

I just attempted this quest on my druid.

Three times in a row, the geologist or miner would run about 3 yards away and reset, regaining full health but not leaving combat. They do not cast a heal or anything - the mobs bug and reset to full health.

I don't know if this is happening with anyone else, but be warned that this has happened and is VERY annoying!

The goblins you need to slay to get the crystals keep themselves at quite a distance from each other, and the drop rate is very good. I got 8 crystals in 12 kills.
