Cleansing of the Infected

Cleanse the forest of 20 Rabid Thistle Bears and return to Tharnariun Treetender in Darkshore.
  •
Rabid Thistle Bear slain (20)

Description

As I had feared, the cure does not work.

It saddens me greatly to order the death of any of nature's beasts, but the sick and tainted thistle bears must be put down.

Return to the forest and destroy 20 rabid thistle bears, <name>. It will most certainly not put a stop to the plague but it will slow down the damage the animals are doing to our forest and its inhabitants for a short time.

You will find a couple of them (around 8) at 49,30. When you kill these, cross the river to the north and youll find a couple more. If needed run back to 49,30, the respawn takes around 2 min.

I just headed south along the coast. Had all 20 before I got to Wildbend River. Super easy.

I had allot of difficulty with this quest. Not because the bears were hard to kill or a high level, but because they were so hard to find! I do not mean this to be offensive in anyway but I decided to listen to Rysah and head south. However I had no luck. So then I decided to head north and I was surrounded in Rabid thistle bears (I'm never going to say this again: Yey!).

It isn't really a tough quest, just time consuming. You'll need plenty of patience with this one. They can cast Rabies on you which lowers some of your attributes. Click on the rabid thistle bear link at the top of the page to see a map of where they are.

Hunters should note that the bear's disease is contagious, and your pet can get it. It slows down your pet's health regeneration and reduces strength and agility by 4.

Really easy quest. Completed it with my Night Elf hunter. You can also level up skinning while doing it. Yes, you may have a hard time finding those bears and get attacked by other aggressive mobs, but still, good XP. They are around 48, 26 but you can also find them around 34, 62. If you don't have cords just go South of Auberdine or take the road that leads to Bashal Aran (North).

This quest will be easy for 14 level characters, a bit difficult for level 12.

If you still can't find any bears go near the Grove of the Ancients, not many players go there, you will find many.
