Woodpaw Gnoll Mane (10)

Description

The gnolls... they are more than a nuisance. They are a constant threat to the existence of this very camp! It is irrelevant whether they are indigenous to Feralas or not; if we do not strengthen our resolve against them, we will find ourselves driven out of the entire region.

The gnoll attacks against the camp have become more fevered as of late. We need your aid in thinning their numbers; bring to me ten of their manes, and I will reward you handsomely for your effort.

Go!

Reward

Also, you get: 45

Progress

We drive them back, and yet they still attack! Someone or something must be driving them into a frenzy... oh, you have returned, eh <name>? Do you have the manes I require for the bounty to be met?

Completion

This is proof of a good start, <name>. Your skills as a soldier are to be commended.

You are not the only one I ask that task of. Many before you have fought them, and in times past our efforts have kept them at bay. Recently though, their attempts to push northward into our area of influence have increased dramatically. Their attacks have also become more savage... almost as if they were desperate.

I have a plan though, <name>, that might settle things once and for all against them...

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 255 experience (15 30 at max. level)
  • 150 Reputation with Thunder Bluff

Actually I found that the drop rate is better at approx. 73, 36. Also you can pick them off one by one rather than in group of 3s.

Drop rate is about 20%.
I suggest you should use the area just south-south-west of Camp Mojache ( 69,54). This quest is easy for a lvl 40 so no need for a group.
Nice for grinding too.
Enjoy your questing!

Katnapper, Tauren Moonkin lvl 40 on Draenor.

Edit : After the 2nd drop of the mane, the drop rate went down pretty big.But the xp and drops i get are wonderfull!

I found most of my manes on the Mongrels north of Mojache. There are a grp of them west of the lake with the waterfall. You can kill others but i kill mostly mongrels unless they are in grp.

Worst drop rate ever in my experience. Some of you were lucky at getting 50% or better, I'd estimate I killed 70 gnolls to complete this quest. I was following James Leveling guide, and they were all green to me too, with no rest xp, hope I get better luck on my future quests because this one took forever.

I got one for every 4 I killed which was not bad. The 69, 54 spot was full of them and I got done in about 10 minutes with several green drops and a few pots as well as a bonus.

They are more than a nuisance. I found the outer Brutes and Mongrels dropped more. Not necessarily killing the camps, but the ones scattered around the camps.

I got my first drop after killing ~20 total trappers/mongrels/brutes. Will make me think twice if I ever have to do it again.

....I confirm that at 69, 54 drop rate is much, much better than in the north...

Go west of the river north of town. The woodpaw are on the west of that river. (72,45)

Level 40-42 mobs
About 30% droprate

Go across the river and climb up the ramp to dohttps://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2975 The ogres of Feralas.
Don't foget to dig up the blue things on the ground with orwin's shovel while your killing the ogres for the quest https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2987 Gordunni Cobalt

Go to 71,54 for the next quest, https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2863 Alpha Strike Note: This is timed quest!

This quest chain is the pre-requisite for https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7731 Stinglasher and https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7730 Zukk'ash Infestation. Note that the https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=7731 Stinglasher quest can NOT be accepted if you have https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2861 Tabetha's Task in your quest log (either deliver the quest first or abandon it).

Very quick respawn rate, and the drop rate isn't bad either. Good spot to grind if you prefer!

First off, at the top of this page it says this quest is obsolete and not obtainable. I just picked it up a little bit ago. And a little piece of wierdness to look out for, If you're in or around Stonemaul Hold when you decide to start this one, don't trust that big yellow dot WoW puts on your map. It sent me straight into Feathermoon Stronghold....lol...had to do some pretty quick maneuvering to get out of THAT one!

this i the 2nd time ive come across a quest marked ""obsolete"" and yet i have completed it. The problem is when u follow the yellow arrow the quest area, your in the middle of Feathermoon Stronghold. That is NOT where you should be. Go down the path (to the right on he map following the road) until your between withering deep and dire maul (but on the path)- point your character facing the bottom of the map (south) and walk. Cant miss all the woodpaw as well as the Groddoc Apes that meet you.
