Gordunni Cobalt (12)
Orwin's Shovel
Provided Item:
Orwin's Shovel

Description

I just arrived here in Feralas, and I've heard that the Gordunni Ogres that inhabit the wilds here have some interesting minerals. Who knows what they are up to, but they sure are protective of that stuff! They don't leave it just lying around; no, they bury it to protect folks like me from getting their hands on it.

If you'd be willing, I'll give you my shovel. Go to the Gordunni Outpost north of here and dig me up some Gordunni cobalt. Look for the blue glow, then start digging!

Reward

You can choose one of these awards:
Boots of the Maharishi
Stargazer Cloak

Progress

Get on up there and start digging!

I've got places to go and people to see -- time is money!

Completion

Perfect! I will take these along as I continue my travels, <name>. I'm sure I can find someone that will pay a pretty penny for this cobalt.

Here, take this for your trouble.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 360 experience (21 60 at max. level)
  • 250 Reputation with Orgrimmar

Just use the shovel near the blue glowing spots on the ground, and a ""Gordunni Dirt Mound"" will appear, which you can loot for your cobalt (or in some cases, disgusting ogre clothing).

Use the shovel you have on some blue-ish glowing spots on the ground, it will spawn a dirt mound that you can loot. Don't bother looting the mounds which do not glow blue, as they don't contain cobalt.

The spots can be found all around the Gordunni Outpost North of Camp Mojache

They have a short respawn timer so finding many will not be difficult.

just a hint - when the mounds appear after you've used the spade, if they have a blue glow to them, there's a cobalt in them.

no blue glow on the mound = junk.

You are able to use the mining pick when you are near a blue shiney spot on the ground. You do no have to necessarily be inside a cave. Just look for small blue shiny spots on the ground and you can mine there.

Be sure to pick up the scroll near a campfire (79:34) to get a new quest (https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2978 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2978)

Face to the blue spots when you dig, make sure your mining pick hit the spot, then you can always get cobalt from the mounds

The mounds that contain cobalt always gain a blue cylindrical shaped glow after being dug. Trash mounds have no glow.

Your proximity to the mound doesn't appear to affect drop rate.

As the above posters stated grab the quest to kill the Ogres, and grab the other quest. There is another way up to the camp and that can be found at 81,37. I found the Scroll by the ""Target Dummies"" at 79,35 so look around the fire and area. As for picking up the ""Non glowing"" dirt piles the trash sells for ""Ogre Chipped Teeth"" x3 1s 50c (50c each) and the ""Ripped Ogre Loincloth"" 39c each. So if you have small bags or even bigger ones save the space for better loot / trash unless you are hurting for money.

Edited: for Spelling
Edit #2: When digging for the Cobalt remember you can dig more then one. I was digging up 2 or 3 at a time since a lot of them are close. There is NO Cool Down on the digger.

If you can spare yourself the experience from the quest, and want to have a little fun....Orwin's Shovel can be used anywhere, not just in the Gordunni compound....

Lots of fun to mine the bank in Orgrimmar and have people staring curiously =P

Use the Shovel on the blue glowing things on the ground at 75,34, their small so look closely. Then loot the dirt mound, its not a 100% chance you will loot the cobalt though maybe about 40%.

You will find alot of cobalt on the lower level

The ogres are there so you should do the quest https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2975#comments:id=281843 The ogres of feralas at the same time.

Also, If you haven't already go west of the river to kill Woodpaws for the quest https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=2862 War on the Woodpaw. (72,45)

For this quest, you might aswell have The Ogres Of Feralas quest aswell.
Use the shovel you acquired from the quest giver on the glowing dark blue spots.
To reveal Gordunni dirt mounds,if you then ""use"" the mounds they will loot them and will either give ogre trash, teeth, cloth or bones.OR the required quest item ""Gordunni Cobalt"".

Hope It Helped and please rate =D

I noticed that they spawn with 4 or 5 different blue dots at once, so you can dig them all up and then just get the mounds that appear.
The mounds that do have the Gordunni cobalt in it, will appear with a blue light coming out of the mound, others have ogre teeth, or clothes.
have fun and good luck :D

this quest is slightly odd. its like 2 step mining.
1) go find little blue-purple glowing spots
there are in clusters of 3-5
2) use the shovel/pick the quester gave you near the spots
3) dirt mounds will appear with purple columns coming out of them
4) open the mounds and collect your prize

What you are looking for is Small small small darkish blue circles. When you use https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=9466 https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=9466 on the circle a Dirt mound will appear. Only loot the Mound if it has a blue glow, otherwise it will be junk in it.

Hope this helps :)

Just in case no one caught on by now:
Blue glow means there's cobalt.
No blue glow means there's junk.
