In order to get this quest, you must have completed all the OOX escort quests in Tanaris, Hinterlands, and Feralas.

For those that are not aware, if you do all 3 of the OOX quests from the random ""eggs"" dropped in Feralas, Tanaris, and the Hinterlands, this quest will open up after turning in the last one.

There is nothing to do really, just click the NPC, take the quest, and earn your mechanical chicken!

I highly recommend this quest for everyone who is interested in gaining a lot of XP for pretty much nothing. The actual escort quests are quite a fun and a nice challenge. I've had a lot of fun earning my metal chicken and I'm sure you will too :D

Note that the reward is not bind on pickup, so you can try selling it on the auction house since this pet isn't that common.

It just follows you like any other non-combat pet. Looks pretty spiffy.

Does not count for Loremaster of Eastern Kingdoms or Loremaster of Kalimdor, but it counts for 3000 Quests Completed.

OOX-17/TN <- TN shows that it is in Tanaris
OOX-09/HL <- HL shows that it is in Hinterlands
OOX-22/FE <- FE shows that it is in Feralas

I just completed the third OOX escort quest and Oglethorpe didn't offer me this quest. I opened a ticket and a GM confirmed that I'd done all three escorts. He then found that it was a ""known issue"", identified recently, that players completing the three escorts aren't being offered the final quest. A fix is expected Soon.

As of The Shattering, the Ferelas quest has changed. If you have done the quest before, you will have to do it again in order to get https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=3721 An OOX of Your Own, per a GM that I petitioned. Before Cata, I had done Feralas and Tanaris already. After The Shattering, I finished the last one (Hinterlands), but I did not get my OOX. Upon petitioning a GM, this was the response I got:<div class=""quote"">I wanted to let you know that I have looked into this issue for you. It appears that, while you have completed the Feralas version of the quest, it has since been updated, and no longer counts as a pre-requistie for An OOX of Your Own. In order to get your OOX, you will need to find the OOX-22/FE in Feralas again!""So it looks like the Tanaris one did not change, the Feralas one changed/reset, and I don't know about Hinterlands one (since I only did it afterwards).

Here's a kicker for you....if you do a race change (I went from Blood Elf to Goblin) ... you must do the quests over again. I ran the macros mentioned in this thread and they reported that I had completed the quests, but the Questgiver for 'An OOX of your own' would not give me the quest, so I opened a ticket. The GM indicated it showed yes, I had completed the quests, but due to the race change, it caused issues. He said this happens quite a lot. I wish he had just granted me the new quest, but he indicated I had to go back and do them again. So...I'm off to do that.

1. Only available if you have not already completed the quest.
2. Yes these still drop in Mists of Pandaria.
3. Yes it can drop off ANY mob in the respective zone, however https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=8705"">(Item #8705) has the highest drop rate from https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=5292"">(NPC #5292) IF you haven't already done the quest.
4. It WILL eventually drop - some days RNG is your best friend, other days you want to repeatedly punch a kitten (or other obscenely fluffy creature) just to illustrate how cruel the universe can be.
