Bring the samples to Jenal, who is no doubt wasting time outside behind this tree; just look for the piles of dirt. He will handle the logistics - not I.

If you choose to use this strategy, just make sure you look around the soil 360 degrees before you sample it. There are lots of high level mobs (if you are L49) that may detect you if they get too close. If you are careful and patient, you should be able to complete this quest without any major problem.
