Warsong Outrider Update
Provided Item:
Bundle of Reports

Description

I recently deployed a few scouts into Ashenvale and I need a runner to take them their orders, and bring me back a report of what they have observed.

Your first stop should be the Zoram'gar Outpost, along the coast to the west, at the Zoram Strand, to locate the first runner. You also need to stop at Splintertree Post, to the north, and along the road to the east, near Azshara. You will find a scout and an outrider there.

Give them each a report, and from them, get an update on their findings.

Reward

Also, you get: 20

Progress

Hurry, <name>. They must receive their reports; it is urgent.

Completion

I can see that you are one that can be counted on. These updates are crucial to our plans to further our presence in Ashenvale. We can now plan our next move.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 180 experience (10 80 at max. level)
  • 350 Reputation with Orgrimmar

Scout is in Splintertree post (71, 68). Don't forget to get the flight path if you haven't already.

Outrider is on the road between Splintertree Post and Azshara. Head northeast from Azshara.

The Runner is at the Zoram'gar Outpost on the western coast (12,34). There is another flight path there.

Before you can get the reports you must open your bundle of reports (you get it when you accepted the quest).

Just go around Astranaar, following the shore of the lake, and then stay between the forest and the shore once you hit the Zoram strand. You may run into some level 19-20 wolves and spiders, but that's it...I just finished at level 19 and only aggroed 2 mobs the whole way from Splintertree.

On a PvP server, the hardest part of making your initial journey to Zoram Strand is avoiding higher-level Alliance players on the road. Astranaar is easy to circumvent by comparison. Stealth classes can creep around the lake and avoid the spiders. Non-stealthers can just swim across the lake, taking care not to get too close to the post.

On a PvP server like mine, I advise saving this trip for an off time, such as 5 in the morning. It doesn't take long, so I always take my alts on this trek a few minutes before I leave for work in the morning. All the schoolkids are asleep.

All in all, I find this quest to be largely a waste of time. Sure, you will get 2 of the 3 reports by going to areas you normally will visit anyway, but the long run back to cash the quest that is likely grey by the time you are finished isn't worth the time for the small amount of XP you get.

That said, why do I do this quest anyway with each and every one of my horde characters?

The individual turn ins for this quest don't count, but the closing quest - delivering the reports back to Kadrak - does count towards Loremaster of Kalimdor.

The Warsong Scout is currently missing, confirmed by a GM. They are working on a fix.

I had this quest before the Shattering but it was incomplete. I must have gotten the Scout before though because I finished it up. However, there doesn't seem to be a way to turn it in because, on my end, Kadrak is now at Splintertree Post after one of the other quest chains I completed. Oh, well.

I have a short story to tell about that quest and i would like to share it with you guys. :)

As a 18 lvl feral tauren druid i never had crossed the borders from The Barrens to Ashenvale before. So as soon as i saw the contested territory pop up, i knew that i should be very carefull here. After 5 mins of running in my travel form i saw a tauren 24 lvl warrior standing on the road motionless, while an 27 lvl purple mob (cant remember the name :P) was hitting him. I guessed that he was afk and i run up to heal him until he returns! Weird as it is, the mob didnt turned aggro on me so i continued to spam my heal. Luckily, the warrior returned before my mana run out and easily killed the mob. He thanked me and rewarded me with 10g for my brotherhood action! :D The bad thing is that i wasn't able to speak (you are not perrmited to speak untill lvl 19 in my server--&gt;annoying) so i just emoted /thank as he was running in the woods.

On my way to the Zoram Stand, just outside of Astranaar i encountered a 18 lvl Draenei pala who immediately start chasing me! I knew that i could easily get away on my travel form but i really wanted that fight! I got in a distance, switched back in caster form and spammed Wrath and Moonfire followed by Entangling Roots(stun) in order to get some distance again. After the first successful spamming round, my second stun missed and the pala started hitting me. I used my racial stun and switched to bear form. After my bear stun and some Maul's, pala's body was lying dead in front of me! My hands were shaking from excitement! I didnt even noticed that i was near death too! Oh yes! It was my first world pvp and i was proud of it! After a while i ""looked"" myself and i was totaly inside my pc screen waiting for the paly to res, greedy as always! :D

After a while pala's body dissapeared so my senses started to feel ally presence again! But that time along with the angy pala was a human priest who's level was (?). Next thing i knew i was running as fast as i could with the angry allies following closely! I runned through trees and mobs trying to avoid him but that priest really wanted to kill me.

I recalled an advice of a friend to always use the enviroment in my advantage. I saw the lake near Astranaar. That was it! This was my escape as i already had learned the aquatic form(50% increased swim speed!). I just had to reach that lake! 10 meatres away from lake, ready to jump in,a God damn spider casted web on me and i was immobilized for 3 secs! That was enough for the priest to unmount and begin cast Blast Mind. I have to admit that i was very lucky that the web fade out in the middle of his casting time and when i jumped on the water his spell failed! Switched in aquatic form and swimmed as fast as i could. The priest knew that i got away and he was just standing there on the shore looking at me as i was sweeming to my freedom ! :D:D I guess i must have made an ally very mad today! :P From the Zoram Stand took the flight path to Barrens and when i arrived i rushed to share my story with you! So much for the Glory of the Horde!

My first journey to the wilderness was full of excitement containing a kill and a lot of running! :P

*PS pls forgive me for any mistakes in my english, i am still learning :D
(patch 3.3.5 dont know how to change it in my status :P)
