Miner's Fortune

Retrieve the Cats Eye Emerald from one of the Venture Co. Overseers or Enforcers for Wharfmaster Dizzywig at Ratchet.
Cats Eye Emerald

Description

Being Wharfmaster of a busy port like Ratchet, I keep my finger on the pulse of information. I know all about the exchange of goods and money between here and Booty Bay.

The latest bit of news I've heard is about the Venture Company's Boulder Lode mine northeast of the Sludge Fen. One of the miners discovered an emerald the size of your fist. I know a few buyers who'd be interested in getting their hands on something like that, and I'd be willing to go half and half on its sale.

Reward

You will receive:
A Sack of Coins

Progress

If only we knew which one of the miners had found the emerald, it'd be a walk in the park...

Completion

Look at the size of that thing, <name>! We're going to be rich! Let's see, according to the rates I've seen on gems going into Undermine, I should be able to figure out your cut--fifty percent, don't worry!

Now let's see... I think this should do about right. Pleasure doing business with you, <name>.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 170 experience (10 20 at max. level)
  • 350 Reputation with Ratchet

The mine entrance is at 60, 3 in the far Northeast corner of the Barrens. The Enforcers and Overseers are in the mine, but also all around the area outside the mine.

Only had to kill half a dozen of them or so before the emerald dropped.

The reward is some money as well as a 6 slot bag.

Simply, if you are a priest at lvl 16, like i am. Do not do this Q.
You will have a big problem when they run away, when they are at 7%
health.

and you will always pull pips and die. i just trashed this Q..

PS: DO NOT DO THIS Q AS A PRIEST

I paired this quest with Samophlange Manual https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=3924 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=3924). The mine is a horrible place to go, solo especially, but tightly packed fleeing mobs means you're going to get extra aggro very often. They also respawn pretty fast, from my experience. Boss Copperplug at the end of the mine dropped the Emerald for me.

If you die near the cave your Spirit will spawn at the Crossroads grave yard, even though on the map the Orgrimmar and Razor Hill grave yards are closer.

This quest takes long enough as it is, the long walk doesn't help.

This was amazingly easy and fast. No need to enter anything. Instead approach the mining area and start taking out the workers. Emerald dropped from a lvl 16 on my 4th kill. The works do not mob you. I was shocked at how easy this was.

You will need to watch for some lvl 40 horde guards on the way up the river but otherwise a piece of cake.

Here is a quick guilde for this quest and part of samophlage q

Rogue:just sneak thro the tunnel, saping enforcers and overseers,at the end kill the bos
do not be too greedy and pickpocket NPCs cause it might not be good if you miss

Warrior:Whenever you fight, use slowing efect (not sure whats its name as i wasn't on mine for quite some time) and rend so they don't run too far oway.

Paladin:U sure u wana do it? I'd quest somewhere else if i was you.

Mage:Chill them or do anythink for them not to run oway;otherwise you are in big trouble
-u might want to use polymorph :)

Hunter:Use ur confusive shoot,it might come as handy as never before
Recomanded pet:Spider

Shaman:Earthbind totem is now your best friend.

Oh sec im bored now...well the point is you must not let them oway,if u really must fight, do it on overseers as they won't run oway.

this quest is like very simple:) since the barrens is one of the biggest maps i try to pair quests a lot... and it was easily paired with
https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=867 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=867
https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=3921 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=3921
https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=3922 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=3922
https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=858 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=858
https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=863 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=863 :) the particular catseye gem was like dropped from the 30th mob killed... but they were easy as hell to kill as a lv15 shammy:)

Due to the EXTREMELY low drop rates, I sold off doing the Samophlange a long time ago.
The last 3 times I've done The Miner's Fortune quest, I wasted more than 30 minutes fighting for the ONE item to drop.
I just spent 45 minutes, killed 30 mobs, and STILL don't have the item!

QUEST DROPPED! I will never do a Boulder Lode quest again!

Couldn't get the quest from Wharfmaster Dizzywig or Brak Blusterpipe as a level 10 undead so there's either a pre-req or it's gone now.
