The Master's Glaive

Gather information, then use the Phial of Scrying to create a Scrying Bowl. Use the bowl to speak with Onu.
  •
Enter the Master's Glaive
Provided Item:
Phial of Scrying

Description

It is strange that the naga are here, in Darkshore. But stranger still...are the Twilight's Hammer. That cult worships the old, old lords of the earth. Lords defeated long ago.

The Master's Glaive, to the south, is a place where such an old lord fell.

Go there and look for more Twilight's Hammer cultists.

Take this phial of scrying. Use it to create a scrying bowl after searching the Master's Glaive. Then speak to me through the bowl.

Progress

The Master's Glaive, <name>.

Go there, then speak with me again.

Completion

The Twilight's Hammer is at the Master's Glaive?

Unfortunate.

The old lord impaled by the glaive is long dead, but that does not mean slivers of his power do not still remain.

The Twilight's Hammer must be seeking this power.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 62.5 experience (3 75 at max. level)
  • 75 Reputation with Darnassus

South of the Grove of Ancients, off of the right side of the road is a path that leads down to the Master's Glaive (40, 86). Work your way down the path, eliminating Twilight Thugs and Disciples (https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=2338 https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=2338). Cross the small river and head to the table with the guts on it.

Once the area is cleared, click on your Phial in your inventory and then click on the bowl which is on the ground now at your feet. You communicate with Onu this way, and he asks you to bring him back some info. Now click on one of the books next to the table to obtain the info, and head back to Onu.

Simply go to 40,86 (easy to find. You can see a blue light from the road). Place the Phial of Scrying on the table there and then click it. Quest completed.

Just a little tip, if you're lvl 17 or maybe even lower; you won't make this on your own. Went there as a 17 druid, and since these friggin disciple's heal for like 90% of their full hp, they are unbelieavbly hard to outdps....

If you happen to be carrying another phial of scrying from another quest make sure you are using the right one. I used a different one that I was carrying twice before I realized I was using the wrong one.

is it just me or is there a book that slaps you?Yes. There is a table with a book at both sides, sometimes a worgen hand will reach out of the book and knock you back, pretty cool detail if you ask me.

And about the sword, it looks pretty titanish to me.

Mobs will randomly drop the book for (https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=5352 https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=5352) so if you're in a group doing this quest make sure everyone gets the book - easy extra XP.

You can just destroy the Phial of Scrying (https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=5251 https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=5251) after this quest chain is over. I found it in my inventory weeks later, with 4 charges left. Free up some bag space and toss it when you are done with the turnin! :D

Rogues, you can just stealth in until you get the quest message that you've searched the Master's Glaive -- you won't have to go far (I was able to stealth in undetected as a level 13 rogue). Then go back toward the road to use your Phial and complete the quest.

Don't forget to pick up Therylune's Escape (https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=945 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=945) while you're there. Head south as you pass the table and turn to your left. She's hiding in some bushes.

The old one looks kind of octopus-like, unlike C'Thun and Yogg-Saron, and somewhat smaller. Considering its physical characteristics and the small pool of water surrounding it, perhaps Darkshore was once under water at some point in time? If Blizzard decides to bring another Old God back in Cata, perhaps we will see an underwater'ish fight, which would be a nice change.

Scroll down to ""Named Old Gods"" and then read ""The Third Named Old God""

*SPOILER*
Soggoth the Slitherer is being summoned into Azeroth via Darkshore in Cataclysm

So my guess would be, this ""skeletton"" is from a former attempt to summon him. Wich obviously failed and now the Twilight's Hammer is trying again.

Following is from Wowwiki.com:
""However, it is also possible that Old Gods cannot be permanently killed--their alien evil may only be contained. For example, the Old God or minion in Darkshore was left impaled upon the gigantic Master's Glaive. Had the Titans been able to truly kill an Old God, they likely would have removed the powerful weapon and slain the other Old Gods as well. That the Glaive was left behind suggests that the Old God may regenerate upon its removal as hoped for by the Twilight's Hammer, much like in some fantasy settings, the removal of a stake from a vampire's heart allows it to regenerate. That the majority of Old Gods were simply imprisoned by the all-powerful Titans could suggest that they were unkillable, but this is most likely because the Old Gods bound themselves to Azeroth in a way that if they were destroyed, Azeroth would be too. Although the Master's Glaive in Darkshore could prove this theory wrong, unless the beast there is not an Old God.""

""Twilight's Hammer cultists have recently begun to unearth the remains of Soggoth, one of the more powerful servants of the Old Gods, from beneath the Master's Glaive with the intent of bringing him back to life. Players will have to foil the cultists' plans before the new incarnation of Soggoth reaches full strength.""
In Cataclysm.

There will also be some phasing which will spawn the Avatar of Soggoth, a level 20 elite faceless one of sorts. Players will have to defeat this avatar.

When I entered this zone, the music for it was random whispers probably in something like demonic.
