Find the final piece of Dartol's Rod and return to Shael'dryn at the moonwell.
Iron Pommel

Description

The final piece of the rod was given to the druids of Dor'danil for safekeeping. I have no idea where they hid it. I'm sorry I can't help you more than that.

All I can tell you is to follow the road that leads towards the Barrens. The druids took shelter to the east of that road, but they won't be of much help to you: they were killed recently... it's something I don't like to think about much.

When you find the final piece, bring it to me and I will help you reconstruct the rod.

When I found it, the chest was just laying on a corpse that I happened upon. If you get lucky you can let someone else do the work of killing the slimes!

For those of you concerned about XP gain, the box drops off the slimes and you do NOT need to be in party at any point to loot it.

However, only one Iron Pommel drops per box so if you are with more than one person the escort will have to kill multiple slimes.

Dropped off second mob for me. Quick and easy just be careful if you are a lower lvl cause there is a bunch of higher horde around.

Worth to note that;

You do NOT need to actually loot the slimes before the chest drops...

So do not get frustrated if you dont get it at your first kill... Kill a few more and the chest will spawn upon their corpse when they die.

I just did this quest on my 28 rogue, and I found something peculiar. When you finally get the box to drop, if you dont loot everything, and kill another slime, the box will spawn. That, or i had an extremely good stroke of luck. I think the first one is more likely.

For those of you traveling in groups while doing this quest - Let it be know, that only one quest item can be looted from the chest before it despawns. So if you traveling in a group, prepare your self for trying to find more than one box!

I'd also suggest trying to spawn a second box like Caped had done. Post us to let us know if this bug still exists!

when you kill a slime (mine was the first one i killed) a chest will be over the corpse open that and you get the pomel I YOU DO NOT LOOT IT you just open the chest on top of the corpse

Took 10 kills for me to get the pommel on two characters, as I was boosting the quest for my alt and want the rod. Doesn't take as long as it used to if i'm correct.

I've killed about 20-30 slimes, 70% have dropped the boxes, but all i get is silk cloth or rusty junk.

To get this pommel you must kill the rotting slimes and they will loot a chest with that itom found there...

I've tried killing many rotting slimes in the designated area and I've gotten no iron pommel! I noticed the previous posting had the same problem too? Maybe it's got to do with the 3.3.5 version? Any advice and help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Don't be discouraged by the comments that say it was the first or second kill. Took me about twelve kills today, just keep at it.

With the recent changes, this quest IS still in the game, but the item is not a drop. It is in a cave with a bear named Oso in The Shady Nook. Kill the bear, loot the chest. If you're low level, be careful. The bear respawns super fast.
