Raene's Cleansing

Find the hidden shrine and re-enchant Dartol's Rod.
Reconstructed Rod
Provided Item:
Reconstructed Rod

Description

Here is the completed rod, <name>. Reconstructing it was simple... it's finding the shrine that has the power to recharge it that will be the hard part.

With some focus and effort it shouldn't be too hard for someone like you, who's already accomplished so much.

Head southeast of here--there are very few paths, so be careful--and keep your eyes to the north. The shrine is hidden within the mountains that surround this glade.

Once there, place the rod within the shrine... the rest is magic. Hehe.

Reward

You will receive:
Dartol's Rod of Transformation

Progress

You can sense a subtle yet powerful force within the shrine and surrounding trees.

You begin placing the rod within the shrine and a soft thrumming noise emits from around you as the shrine begins to glow...

Completion

After the glow dies, you can see the re-enchanted rod within the shrine's basin.

Gains

Upon completion of quests, get:
  • 170 experience (10 20 at max. level)
  • 150 Reputation with Darnassus

You will find a small path leading up a mountain at 55, 51. Follow that to 56, 49 you will be right at the shrine.

To expand on Shind's description, if you stick to the eastern wall of mountains and head south, you will eventually be able to get around this small area of mountains. When you are around that first batch of mountains, head directly north. You will have to weave your way between a few other mountains and trees following a small natural path.

Eventually, you will find a dirt path which spirals its way around one of the larger mountains. Follow this path up around the mountain until you find a large, hollowed out tree. There should be a small, sparky, glowing stone inside. This stone is the said shrine you need to be at to charge the rod. If you see this glowing stone, you're at the right place! This is the last step in the rod's creation.

Enjoy turning into a furbolg, or if you decide to finish the entire quest line, you can receive a nice ring and two handed mace. (note that if you do finish the quest line, you will lose the ability to turn into a furbolg forever, as upon completing the quest line, Raene takes Dartol's Rod of Transformation away from you.)

I've submitted a screenshot of the exact location of the shrine. If you get confused and end up at the road, just head north and kill bears til you come by the path.

It's a path that circles around a mountain, if you follow the path to the right you'll find the shrine.

Note: Although you can cast spells while in furbolg form, as soon as you take damage, it will turn off. (Awww) No idea what happens if ya try to use a ranged weapon (I'm a druid)

There are a lot of bears along the way during this part of the quest. You will want to be out of party to avoid XP gain.

Edit: For those twinking who seek the Glacial Stone or Gutterblade.

Actually on this part of the quest chain, if you do not accept the next part of the quest, you keep the rod and do not have to do any of the remaining parts, if your doing it just for the rod, if not , keep questing and enjoy the extra experience

You do NOT need to keep the quest to keep the rod. Just don't accept the next step of the chain (or if you do, just abandon it) and viola, AWESOME rod!

Totally misleading video in youtube and most of the comments.

56,49 cord.
also see the second picture posted.
Last but no least when you are close, take a look at youradar's map.
There will be a dim black round trace which will indicate the road.

To rod keepers:
After this chit chat withe the rock, just dont take next step.

I believe it's worth noting here that Quest Helper might make you pull your hair out here because it incorrectly leads you to step 9 of this quest chain.
Quest Helper incorrectly placed a question mark icon on my ingame map near (53,73) during this (6th) part of the quest chain. When I moused over the question mark at (53,73) it had details for part 9 of this quest chain (talk to Krolg in furbolg form), yet i was only suppose to find the Shrine (56,49) at this point in the quest chain.
So be warned that Quest Helper is misleading here and tries to point you toward ending part 9 when you are only on part 6 of this series.

This is the only time Quest Helper has failed me like this. If you dont use Quest Helper then you can probably disregard this post.

*EDIT*
Also (for non-Twinkers), you can go all the way through part 10 to be able to keep the Rod. To do this just ""Complete"" step 10 of this quest chain (when you return/talk to Krolg after defeating Ran Bloodtooth and 4 of his guards) but DO NOT ""Accept"" the next quest from Krolg. This nets you a nice amount of exp to go through 10/11 parts of this quest chain. Good Luck!

if all your after is the rod of transformation, complete this quest at the stone and do not pick up the follow-up.

voila, rod is in your bag and no need to dedicate a quest slot to keep it there.

The entrance to the path can be found at 55,53. Face due north and you will see a little path that heads up and to the right, spiraling around the edge of the hill (counter clockwise). The shrine itself is at 56,49 in Ashenvale.

ADDENDUM: My questhelper also incorrectly identified the shrine at 50,75. It is *not* there.

With the new race changes you will loose the rod due to it clearing your quest log.. any way of getting it back?

You can do the Argent Tournament daily quests while transformed into a furbolg. Jousting in that form is pretty entertaining.
