Bring a piece of Corroded Shrapnel to Kaela Shadowspear in Stonetalon.

Description

It seems obvious to me that the protectors of the Vale--the treants--had something to do with the Venture Co. being driven back. Unfortunately, even those once great guardians have now become corrupt.

Gaxim thinks their corruption is somehow linked to the weapons the goblins used during their retreat.

I told him I'd collect a sample from a wounded treant and allow him to study it in order to figure out if that's true.

Bring me some of the shrapnel so the gnome can tell me more...

I have a feeling Gaxim will find a use for the shrapnel regardless of how the Venture Co. has used it in the past.

Treants are the tree-like mobs. They roam around The Charred Vale.

This quest becomes avaliable after completing the quests given by Gaxim Rustfizzle (https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=4077 https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=4077), ie.:
An Old Colleague (https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=1072 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=1072) and Ineptitude + Chemicals = Fun;
and A Scroll from Mauren (https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=1075 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=1075) and Devils in Westfall.
They are very quick to do. In the 1st you just need to buy 4 minor manas and 2 elixirs of minor fortitude (or make it), in the 2nd kill 1, maybe 2 Dust Devils in Wesfall.
Then you get the Covert Ops quests (https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=1079 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=1079 and https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=1080 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=1080 ); after completing them Gaxim tells you to talk to Kaela, which unlocks the quest.

When you complete both this quest and https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=1083"">(Quest #1083), Kaela will send you back to Astranaar with https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=1082"">(Quest #1082). Kaela may not have a ""!"" for you, though, because the ""Update"" quest is rated at level 22 for some reason. Just be sure to click her again after you've turned in both quests.

Low spawn rates and lousy drop rates combined with the treants wandering amongst a whole bunch of mobs make this quest QUITE a pain.
