Hemet Nesingwary wants you to kill Tethis, an elusive, dangerous raptor in Stranglethorn.

Description

Because you proved yourself to be such a go-getter in the jungle, let me tell you about a ferocious raptor that even I have failed to kill. Ajeck here calls this wily raptor Tethis.

If you want to prove yourself a true master, kill Tethis and bring me his talon. It would be a feat that no other big game hunter has accomplished.

Usually found around the back of the Gurubashi Arena around 29,49 . Stuck in the middle of similar Raptors. Make sure you clear all of the others before trying him, Raptors tend to 'shriek' for help. Raptors Name is Tethis, he's bright blue. If you don't have a coordinate mod, look around the 'A' in Gurubashi on the map.

I wasn't able to get the the coordinates above. They were too close to the arena. Here is where I found Tethis: 28, 43. Good Luck.

Tethis hovers around behind (west) of the Gurubashi Arena.
I suggest being level 42 to solo Tethis as he's fast attacking and has a tendency to be near other Lashtails at the time.

If in a group this will be easy, if soloing I suggest pulling Tethis away from where he was and move him to somewhere which isn't inhabited by a large spawn.

Took me two tries as a level 42 Hunter. Pulled with pet, double tapped passive, brought it over to me, ran back, heal pet, shoot, shoot, shoot. Tethis down.

Good luck! Don't stop looking as he's a tricky bugger.

This can be acquired by a level 29 twink if you have some help with the quest. Just make to start the chain early enough so that you have enough XP to finish it all!

Tethis has 5262 healthpoints and has a special attack called ""Tendon Rip"" much like the crocs outside Grom'Gol. (Slows down movementspeed).
He hits plate for 85-110.
He can be both slowed and feared, so kiting is possible.

This reward is THE best breast piece for a rogue/feral druid twink at level 29. TBC enchants can be added to this as well making it the obvious choice for the serious twink.

found him at: 28,44 - between the G and U in Gurubashi

was easy :) was left with 800 hp so pot not really needed :)

well in the new patch(2.3) hes no longer an elite and has lvl 43 and has around 2k hp:) ,was verry easy for a lvl 39 warlock

Found him at 28,42. He's blue! So don't brother scrolling over the red raptors hoping for a hit. Level 43, non elite. I killed him at 80 so I cant comment on the fight but, yah, hope what I did post is helpful.

For those without coords: He pats along the western side of the Arena. If you look on your main map, you should find him in the area constituting the ""GURU"" and ""AR"" in Gurubashi Arena. Look around that area. I find mine on top of the hill leading down to the beach.

For any 29 twinks getting both the https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=4107 https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=4107 (tiger gloves) and https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=4119 https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=4119 (raptor chest) the total xp for BOTH questlines is 20600 :) u wont ding even if u start at 29 :)

Easy enough to kill, since he's now nonelite; soloed at level 36 on a prot paladin while simultaneously fending off two level 40 raptors. Found him directly north of the arena, waited a while for him to go out of aggro range of any other raptors but it seems like that's a rarity - could always try to clear the area beforehand, though. Overall pretty nice quest chain, along with the others in the same area.

With the new Cata patch and upgrades, the mark from the quest map is correct, I got him in that area. The thing about Tethis is that he moves fast, so if you dont see him immediately, dont worry. Sit tight, and wait patiently for your quarry.

Did this quest with a level 30 hunter and it was a piece of cake with no problems at all. I came back 2 days later and tamed him. He makes a nice pet. I was actually able to name him ""Tethis"".

The comments to this quest are super out of date, coords: 60, 62 bright blue raptor it's kinda easy to kind it just use the macro /tar Tethis. It was the quickest way to find it.

In the new patch (5.3) Tethis spawns at (58,59) (58.7,59.2) to be exact. He spawns there consistently from what I can see. This is with the new Mists of Pandaria expansion. I'm not sure if it is different without the expansion installed.
