Bitter Rivals

In the basement of the Thunderbrew Distillery in Kharanos, replace a barrel of Thunder Ale with a Barrel of Barleybrew Scalder.
Barrel of Barleybrew Scalder
Provided Item:
Barrel of Barleybrew Scalder

Description

I have to admit, those Thunderbrews make some good drinks. But they need to learn that theirs isn't the only decent brew! Maybe you can help me teach them that lesson...

Here, take this barrel of Barleybrew Scalder. Sneak into the basement of the Thunderbrew Distillery in Kharanos and switch it with one of their barrels of Thunder Ale. Then we'll see how their patrons like my brew over theirs!

And if the barrels are guarded, then you might have to distract the guard ...

Progress

The date on this barrel shows that it'll soon be tapped.

Completion

You quickly place Marleth's barrel of Barleybrew Scalder among the Thunderbrew barrels.

Buy a Thunder Ale from the inn-keeper to give to Jarven Thunderbrew so that he leaves. You can then complete the quest.

1. Once you reach the basement, check out the barrel beside Jarven Thunderbrew. You'll get a message that it's guarded.

2. Talk to Jarven Thunderbrew (he now has blue ? above him). You'll get this quest: https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=308 Distracting Jarven

3. Once you get Jarven out of the way (by handing him the Thunder Ale from the Innkeeper upstairs), click the barrel again.

I did it with my first Gnome ever. I didn't know what to do, so I read Likelke's stuff. Then I went back upstairs and bought Thunder Ale, then went back downstairs and talked to Jarven he went upstairs I did the quest. When I went back upstairs Jarven was by the Innkeeper and told Belm, ""Get some more of that Thunder Ale for me and Nancey."" Or something like that. Anyway, when he went back downstairs and I bought [Thunder Ale]x5 and drank it all... It's actually pretty fun. :) lol.

Level seven Gnome Mage,
Nancey.

Its probably just me but I had a heck of a time finding Jarven. You have to go down into the kitchen and the stairs down to Jarven is all the way in the back of the kitchen. Look closely, they are there. Its not obvious from the door of the kitchen.

Jarven is downstairs; stairwell going down is behind the table 'o meat in the kitchen (where the cooking trainer is).

Another piece of information: If you do not accept the follow-up (Return to Marleth), then you can't distract Jarven again to do so, so you'll have to wait till another player does it.
