When you get to the 4th part of this quest chain, where you have to collect a sycamore branch, Go to Feralas and look for cursed sycamore to the west of the ruin of Isildien. Keep in mind your looking for a treant critter, and not a bush/tree.

This now offers 6600 experience upon completion.
Also, Cursed Sycamore is very hard to find, and doing this quest at level 44, watch out for the hippogryph mobs.

Very simple find. However, it may be a new area to some players.
If you use coordinates, you can find the https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=5881 Cursed Sycamore around: 56, 74
  • If you do not use coordinates, I would suggest the using the directions below:
Fly to Feathermoon Stronghold in Feralas. You can do so by flying from Westfall to Menethil Harbor, then take the boat directly behind the flightpath to Dustwallow Marsh. Then, fly to Feralas - Feathermoon Stronghold.

Take the boat/water walk/path of frost over to the dock area on the main land.
If you decide to use a water-walking skill, the dock is located almost directly east of Sardor Isle (where you land).
*Watch out for the elite giants near the docks.
The path you need to take from here is slightly southeast from the dock.
There will be a fork at the top of the ramp/path. Take the path to the right (you'll pass over a bridge with a waterfall to the left).

As you continue down the path, you'll notice that the right side drops off quite a bit. This will slowly even out with the path. The first very large tree you come to on even ground should be your landmark and sign to turn right into the wilderness. The mobs here are going to be in the low 40's and should be no threat to you, if you're on this quest.

Continue heading South. You're going to pass through Feral Scar Vale, which contains level 43ish Yetis.

After you pass the Yeti cave, bear slightly to the right, just to keep close to the mountain/zone wall. This will help avoid aggro from the Hypogryphs in the area. Use the pins on the map provided below to help guide you to your destination. You may want to take a slightly different route, depending on your level/class and how comfortable you are with avoiding aggro mobs.

Quests like this with absolutely no direction are probably why they started showing quest objectives on the map. After running around like mad and starting to think my favorite game was losing its fun, thank you WOW. My hope of having a life has just got smaller! ;D Oh, and I just discovered Wowhead, which is awesome, too. Until they fix everything, I'm glad there are websites like this.

I looked around for a tree for about 15 minutes till I looked it up here then roamed around picking herbs till I found it.
Made a pic.

From what I can see there isn't even a small group of Cursed Sycamore around. I have been wandering around the area for about 30 min. I have seen it twice and it did not drop the branch either time.

It is a little disappointing that Blizzard did not make the drop rate 100% seeing there is only a single mob walking around that can drop it. The loot table says 31%. My hope was it would be much higher taking into consideration kills from ppl that were just exploring and not on the quest. I must just be unlucky.

Edit: It is noteworthy to say that the drop rate is significantly higher when you actually PICK UP THE QUEST! It dropped on the first kill. Sorry Blizzard for being so hasty.
