Though not live yet, it seems that this quest will reward 350 reputation in 2.3 and beyond.

Bearing in mind the actual travel time you may want to check the furblogs area first, if no one about grind to your hearts content. Doing both quests will increase your rep per hour also.

I'm no expert at being a mage by any means, but I'm a 63 mage and I can kill the preservers and giants no problem. I'm currently specced full frost too, but my fire spells work just as well. The shield works wonders at protecting me from the biggest of their hits.

Currently being 1010/12000 into honored here are my tips for this quest. You MUST be alliance to do these quests.

The https://vanillawowdb.com/?faction=589 Wintersaber Trainers are located in Northern Winterspring and pretty much the point of grinding reputation with them is solely to get https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=13086 Reins of the Winterspring Frostsaber. Now, pre-BC this mount was extremely hard to get due to the little amount of reputation you would get per quest turn in thus the grind was highly not worth it. Since Burning Crusade came out the reputation has been increased however the mount is still uncommon since people don't find the worth of the grind.

To get started you must find https://vanillawowdb.com/?npc=10618 Rivern Frostwind (Note: he is literally on top of the giant rock at (49,9). You can get up to him from the back of the rock).

Outline of the reputation levels:

[Neutral][Friendly][Honored][Revered][Exalted]Overview of the quests:Tips for farming:
 • It's always nice to have a friend. This is a really boring grind so it's nice to have someone to do it with.
 • https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=25653 Riding Crop or https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=32863 Skybreaker Whip are worth it for this grind
 • Except for the elites, you can pull a few of these a time as a 70 and be okay.
 • Once you hit honored and you unlock https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=5981 Rampaging Giants I would only do that and https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=5201 Winterfall Intrusion. The ride is longer but not having to farm the meat with the bad drop rate and the bonus repuation is worth it if you can take the elites.
 • Don't get discouraged. It seems like it's gonna take forever but it's not as bad as it seems. In one day I'm a bit into honored.
Some math:
Good luck all!

Oh, that would be Shy-Rotam who I just killed in another quest then. Just aswell she didn't have time to summon her mate, or He'd have got it too.

And keep in mind the rep you get for Timbermaw Hold while killing the Winterspring Shamans and Ursa's
20 each untill revered, plus dozens of Winterfall Spirit Beads, also for Timbermaw Hold rep upto exalted
300 rep for 5 beads..

All in all very time-consuming, but repwise rewarding.

I have tried both ways with no luck getting over to the giants. What rep does it pay compared to gathering the meat and killing the Ursa and Shammys? Is it worth the hassle since the meat is a 100% drop rate now? I can turn and burn the meat 4 or 5 times by the time I even get to the area the giants are in..

if you go from the left facing the ravine, once you reach that slope that pushes up.

all you got to do is jump past a tree till you reach as high as you can go, then mount up and jump diagonally onto the top of the extended slope wall that you cant move past.

i'll get a screen shot and mark it.

To get over the chasm before flight's added, dying and spirit rezzing works as well.

Using the stop watch feature I timed myself. It currently takes on average 8mins to pick up and drop off provision & intrusion quests. If you pick this one up as well, since the bridge is no longer there and we can't fly over ATM, no matter how you do it (falling to your death or hugging the side of the mountain) it's about 20mins on average from pick up/ drop off on quests. 350rep is not worth that extra time wasted ATM. Until we get flight in Azeroth do the two quests and save yourself a few hours in grinding.

Yes, it is possible to reach the other side. I only read your post after I had succeeded and died once trying to do it again. Then the game placed me at the spirit healer on the other side of the chasm. Resurrect, et voila. That's another option, it seems.

Edit: At the east side of the chasm, there's a big, big tree. That is probably the spot where you died a couple of times. You can jump on the ridge between the big tree and two smaller trees north of it. The jump is very easy when mounted, just don't jump over the ridge or you'll drop all the way down into the gorge. Once you're on top of the ridge, the trip to the other side of the gorge is easy.

I don't know what's changed in this since Cata -- but the spawn rate is really, really low. If there is anybody else doing the rep grind, I think you can write off the giants and just work on the meat and the ursas.

For point of reference, I showed up and about half the giants were dead. I killed the rest... and waited over 10 minutes for a repop that never happened.

Still not worthy, spawn rate is really low. Just skip it.

Edit:
If you have the following items, this could be worthy:
 • you are the only one grinding rep on this quest;
 • Mr Popularity guild perk ;
 • Hasty Heart guild perk;
 • 310% mount speed;
 • Heartstone to everlook;

This quest seems to be gone as of May 2012 - I'm doing the wintersaber mount daily without ever seeing this quest offered. Maybe it should be marked obsolete?
