This was a bit of a pain. Not because it was difficult just that the scroll is very hard to see. Anyway, it's under the bridge in the Swamp of Sorrows just after the main fork in the road (22, 48). You might have to move your mouse over the water a few times to find it.

When you're facing south, on the north side of the bridge, the scroll is on the 2nd to last gap on the left. It's not too far from the grass

If you play with the camera very far out, you might want to zoom into first person, it makes it much easier to see!

And not to mention the 14-slot bag for a very easy quest which you can complete after you do the Bloodsail Buccaneers quests. Incidently when you complete the final part to get the bag (https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=11324 https://vanillawowdb.com/?item=11324) you can at the same time do Whiskey Slims Lost Grog (https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=580 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=580). The turtles on the beach are neutral and you can just get the grog and its a very nice round trip for very little effort.

Also, to begin this quest, you must first find the riddle somewhere on board one the ships off Booty Bay; specifically the ships containing the 3 Bloodsail Buccaneers you need to kill for the last part of the Bloodsail Buccaneers quest https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=608 https://vanillawowdb.com/?quest=608. I was lucky enough to cross it while I was doing that quest, but forgot which ship it was =(

By turning off Water Collision in the interface options menu, and zooming in to first person in cat form made it all much easier, found the scroll right away.

I got the scroll while doing the final part of the Bloodsail Buccanears quest as well, it sits on the floor of anyone of the three ships, i got mine from in between a wall and a stack of crates on the second floor of the ship with Fleet Master Firallon in it. Coincidentally, when i went to the last ship, which for me was the one furthest west, the scroll was down on the bottom floor of the ship in the back room behind a stack of crates. you can only loot the scroll once, but it spawns on all three ships and it spawns fast.

5050 xp after patch, at level 42, no reputation changes, but anyway wroth picking it when you're going to Thadius Grimshade for a ZF prequest for example

Just as a matter of information (and likely to be outdated as soon as WoWhead catches it), this quest is listed under Dungeon Instances: Deadmines.

It has nothing to do with the Deadmines, for those people looking for Deadmines quests.

Just something I noticed while doing this quest on three boxed shaman. I went to each ship to kill their respective captains for the bloodsail quest and was looted the scroll on the first boat on 1 shaman, the scroll was then on the second boat and looted with the next and then again on the last boat the scroll was there to be looted by my last shaman. So respawn is rather quick, and might rotate from 1 boat to the next. 2 boats had it in the very bottom and 1 boat was just down 1 floor near some cannons.

Found start to quest on Cpt. Keelhaul's ship. Right at the bottom of the stairs on the bottom level of the ship. It was on top of a cask on the right side as I came into the room from the stairs. It looked like a scroll. There was no ""!"" over it. It gave me the ""open item"" icon when my mouse was over it.

Picked up the scroll on one of the boats south of Booty Bay.

First quest:

One question though. Is the scroll sparkling (to inform that you can click it) in swamps? Because even if you see it, it's still hard to get...The scroll (swamp of sorrows) has a question mark upon it, after getting the scroll in one of those boats in stranglethorn. Make sure you start the quest right, otherwise you won't be able to finish the following quests.

as of 2012-02-05, the scroll is still in the cave in Dustwallow Marsh. Blizz takes away the coolest quests...
